Yes he's a great talent but nobody knows if those 2 won't be better than Rogers. But in saying that I'm glad he's not leaving our receivers overall potential is off the charts.
I think we're comparing apples to oranges to an extent. JH11, CP and Croom are all different receivers than DR. Rodgers has a different body than all of those guys for the first thing. He is built like a truck, and he runs a lot more crossing routes than any of them will during the course of a year. He's not necessarily your home run threat. JH11 and what I've seen of the other two, they are outside receivers. With the addition of CP, in a three wide set, DR will likely play in the slot.

Bowles and Pig have similar bodies to DR, but it's unlikely that they will know the playbook well enough to step right in and make a sizable impact. I mean, DR and JH11 didn't really have HUGE freshman seasons, and we can all see what they are capable of.

EDIT: I have to add, that we are a better team with DR. Someone said earlier that he subtracts more than he adds to the team. Potentially in the locker room, yes. However, we need him on the field. I agree with the OP wholeheartedly on the spot CDD is in. He's got to produce on the field, and DR helps that become a possibility.

Yeah keep believing that. DR and Hunter look great because UT has nobody else. Average talented players look like superstars on a below average team. The same players look average on a team full of great talent. We all thought Simeon Castille was a great player because he was the best we had, not only wouldn't he have started on the team now but he probably wouldn't even have been recruited by Bama.

I'm sorry. I couldn't allow the pure stupidity of this post be lost forever in the annals of VN.

The #1 player in the state of Georgia coming out of high school would and could play for any team in the nation. Hunter was committed to LSU and we got him and he has been more explosive than I imagined. Those receivers are elite on any college team.

DaRick is and has acted like a total jackwagon in large part because he and Dooley both know that there is only one DaRick on the team. There is nobody on the roster that equals his talent and could step in immediately at his position and be as productive should he be dismissed. The same holds true for Janzen Jackson. Dools gave him every chance he possibly could because frankly, there was no other JJ on the roster, and JJ knew it. Dools is actually in a tough situation with players like this because he knows they can't be replaced with equal or near equal talent so he is forced to put up with alot of BS from these egos in order keep them on the team and field as long as possible.

For reference, take Bama for instance. A major reason guys like Julio Jones, Trent Richardson, and Mark Barron keep their act together is because Bama has such unbelievable quality depth, and those guys know if they jacked around, Saban would put them on the first plane back to mama's cooking and would have little trouble replacing them with the next guy in line who probably had as many stars as they had coming out of HS. The fear of being easily replaced keeps alot of these egos in check. Unfortunately for UT, we have some unbelievably talented skill position players like DaRick, just no one behind them of equal talent.

Let's face it - depth not only helps on the field, it helps off it as well. Your thoughts please.
I hate to say it but your right. He did finally boot JJ off team but think he failed multiple drug tests and CDD had no choice. JJ held no grudge and knew he had it coming. It sucked because I think we were awful last season in the secondary without JJ. On a side note, eventhough Terry Joseph was a personal friend of CDD, do you think CDD asked him to look around? Most analysts' thought that CTJ was a poor secondary coach. Maybe CTJ thought it was a threat when Sunseri hired a safety coach and bolted.

A top five defense doesn't hurt either.

Remember when we had one of those?
