| | Spike Drinks, Not Trees | When did Vol fans start acting like Vandy fans? Nobody sent me the memo on this. I did not realize that we're supposed to take solace in almost covering the spread against a ranked team on the road. Hell, maybe they'll throw a tickertape parade down Kingston Pike if we can keep Bama under 50 points? This staff does not need coddling. They do not need to feel comfortable after a poor performance, no matter what the excuses are. These guys need to know that the clock is ticking and they'd darn sure better put an SEC champion caliber team of the field and back it up with wins in the next couple of years or all of 'em are going to be on the next short bus back to Palookaville. |

| Takwe solace?
Kiffin was worshiped for the exact same result against Florida.
(edit: May not have been clear, but I agree with your OP)

Our goal wasn't to "cover the spread". Our goal was to win. Our football team is young! This isn't the 90's or early 00's talent! its going to take some time to build a team and a system that is capable of beating Florida, Alabama, and LSU. So, please, put the knife down and relax. Your family needs you, and so does Vol Nation. |

Would really like to see proof this year that thats where we're heading. He'll get next year before he absolutly has to show that tho. |

| | Spike Drinks, Not Trees | I realize that Dooley deserves/needs a couple of more years to be fairly assessed as head coach. That doesn't mean that people shouldn't be upset over a loss. When we get to a point that most of the fanbase just shrugs of any loss as expected and explainable then I'd say we've lost the passion that it takes to sustain a truly great program. High expectations may be beget disappointment but low expectations never beget greatness. |

| With Hart in the AD's office i'd say Dooley probably will need to show him something by next year. Guy has had good teams everywhere he went, doubt he wants to mess up his streak. I sure don't want him too.
I like Dooley though and hopefully he can get something going soon. He needs a big win and he hasn't gotten it to this point. Beating UGA might do it for some but it really doesn't send any shockwaves through college football. |

| | Spike Drinks, Not Trees | My main thing here is that I don't want to see us start down this posi- versus nega- trail again. It took well over a decade with Fulmer to get us to that point and we're only in season 2 with Dooley. If people want to get mad about a loss, even when we were clearly the underdog, then that should be okay. Nobody is burning their fancard over this game, except the guy who said he's done after 47 years or whatever it was. |

| I think a lot of people are upset. I was pumping some sunshine last year for "fighting hard" against Florida, and don't get me wrong, I'm glad the team didn't lay down when we were losing 30-7. But enough is enough, and we have dwindled about in obscurity for too long. I like Dooley, and he deserves at least a couple more years, but at some point, youth and inexperience can no longer be our excuse and something will have to give.
I had high hopes for this season that were mostly dashed when Hunter went down with injury, but the team can't hang their heads like I'm going to. It's going to be interesting to see how they respond, who steps up, and whether we can make some noise and get a win over someone who actually matters. |

| First year in a long time that i can remember that people actually thought we had a chance. For a while there you knew this game was UF's, the Tebow years sucked.
Dooley took a tough rebuilding project. Cards were clearly stacked against him from the beginning. If all we get out of Dooley is stability it's not a loss at all. He won't keep his job, but he'll leave it in much better shape than when the last two coaches exited. |

| | smh | It's been said on here since Dooley got hired; the one thing we need right now is stability, after the Fulmer/Kiffin debacles. Dooley needs to be here through 2013 for better or worse. |
