Basketball AP Rankings Pointless

I was looking at the AP rankings and comparing them to the seeds each team recieved for the NCAA tourney. Below is a list of the teams which finished in the top 25 and where they were seeded in the tourey. What do you think?

Why even rank teams throughout the year?

Top 25
1. Kansas 1 seed
2. Kentucky 1 seed
3. Duke 1 seed
4. Syracuse 1 seed
5. Ohio State 2 seed
6. West Virginia 2 seed
7. Kansas State 2 seed
8. New Mexico 3 seed
9. Villanova 2 seed
10. Purdue 4 seed
11. Butler 5 seed
12. Temple 5 seed
13. Michigan State 5 seed
14. Georgetown 3 seed
15. Tennessee 6 seed
16. Wisconsin 4 seed

How do teams ranked 18 and 19 get a 3 seed, when Tennessee is ranked 15 and recieves a 6?

No disrespect intended but yes.... the AP Rankings are useless. It's fan fodder, that's it.

Writers voting for things they see...they go with the chatter about teams, and vote for teams they have never seen in some cases.

I think we could have beat georgetown ,we did last year on a neutral court

I know its stupid they keep saying mcbee hit a 3 to win it,his 3 was late on the clock and we were up by 3 already

That's easy. The people who work for national sports media and the people who do the seeding are mostly alumnae and fans of Big East, Big Ten, ACC, and other conferences not the SEC. So, there's a lot of bias in how these things play out at the end of the season.

Good look at the rankings Easy. Whether it's the rankings or the seeding, something is definitely off. My guess is it's both. Worked out for us this year though. St. Louis is a relatively short trip for most of the Vol Nation.
