Got a question...

How do you feel about someone who cheers for Tennessee's football program but is a Kentucky basketball fan? I have encountered this outrageous circumstance and I am confused on how to react but I'm initially pissed.

I for one cheer for the logo/university not just the team and feel if you are a fan of Tennessee it is required that its every sport you cheer for not just one program.

Well considering UT's long term winning football program and UK's long term winning basketball program it appears to be a classic band wagon jumper. If it is a chick it makes it easy. You can date her until something better comes along. Classic band wagon jumper move. She will understand.

I know a few prople who are fans of UT football and OK basketball. I think it is most likely due to those people growing up during the periods when UT basketball was at it's worse. I don't agree with these people and would never root for UK.

I have encountered a similar problem from some of my wife's family. Her uncle is a Bama football fan, and a UK basketball fan. How does that happen you ask? Well I don't know really. He is not from either state, did not attend either school, nor does he have any family who meets either of those requirements, and this bugs the heck out of me. The answer is probably that, like your friend, he wants to cheer for a team who wins a lot, or is perceived to be "one of the greats". IMO, this is not at all what college sports is about. You usually have some sort of association with the university or its athletic programs. Many of my family members have attended UT (not me) and are from this state as well. I have been going to games since my very first game at the age of 2 (85' Sugar Bowl). It is in my blood, so here after my ramble is what I think you should do. Find out the reason why your friend is a fan of UK basketball, and if they have no reasonable association with that program, cut off all ties and spread nasty rumors about them and their family.

As a 40-yr old Vol fan, I grew up respecting UK basketball and Bama Football b/c of their traditions of winning. I didn't figure out until college that the reason they had traditions of winning was b/c they both cheated their a**es off throughout the histories of their respective programs. Both had iconic head coaches (Rupp and Bear) who dabbled in below board behavior and both now have carbetbagging mercenaries running their programs. Funny how things never change.

People like that need to be put out to pasture...I hate the entire state of Kentucky because of the university.

Well over half this board were UNC basketball fans when Buzz Peterson was coach...

EDIT: At least it seemed that way.
