| Knowledge of UT basketball fans I've seen people on this board blaming everything from the coaching, to the players, to tatoos ( ). Basketball is not football. We are going to lose games. We are going to not play well some nights.
We played horribly and took the #6 team in the country to the final seconds. Relax and just enjoy watching this season because it's going to be fun (unless you complain about every pass/shot/possession like many of you do).
I've said my peace. |

| Do you also enjoy getting bounced in the 2nd round of the tourney? Our guys were way more athletic than Purdue. I will complain when we turn the ball over so much, jack up 3s way to often, the 2 best players are not productive at all. So if you enjoy underacheiving pretty much every season then this year should be a joy for you. |

| Valid points. This team probably doesn't have the skill or basketball IQ to be a Final Four team, but they can still be pretty good and win a bunch of games. Perhaps BPearl will eventually have good basketball players as well as good athletes. |

I would love to be wrong. |

Oh and Hopson will be coming back next year

| My bball knowledge is extensive enough to know that we were dominating inside and to let BMaze run around the top of the key for 12 sec. before passing to Chism and to NOT CALL A TIMEOUT is absolutely ridiculous..Bruce really needs to get some set offensive plays for situations like that, because we will be losing a lot more if not. |

I've said my peace. | If you like to see bad play against good competition, then I am sure you will enjoy this season's ride. |

So if you enjoy underacheiving pretty much every season then this year should be a joy for you. | Wow...Basketball is not about who is more athletic...Its about ball movement, Coaching and playing together as a team.
Tennessee is not underachieving yet...Last year we were young and the 2 years before that we did pretty well with mediocre type players and young guys in Chism and Tyler Smith.
This year is Bruce Pearls year to make a name for himself. He has an experienced team and they will be better then last year.
It was also the 3rd game of the year and it was a preseason Tournament....Who cares now we know that even when we are shooting terrible and not making plays we can still be in a game with a top opponent...
If Mid season we are not doing well then you can say we are underachieving. Lets keep the faith it was just one game... |

This is not something new for Bruce Pearl everyone on that team knows how he coaches and knew he was not going to take a timeout. Chism was open he just missed the shot.
You take that shot everytime. They are not going to call a foul in the last seconds you have seen that many times before so a big man driving to the lane is not the best option...
Chism has hit many 3's in his time at Tennessee he just missed that one. If i am not mistaken did he not hit one the last game at the end to pretty much seal the win for us against Depaul?
Same scenario just different result this time. |

I've said my peace. | I agree with this for the most part. Basketball is not football and teams lose all the time. Do you think UNC fans were yelling for Roy Williams' head after they lost to Syracuse the other night? No. The beauty of it is that there IS a playoff system in place. This was an early test and losing by 1 point to the #6 team in the country is not the end of the world. Teams get better as the season goes on. Get over it.
PS - I'm still grateful that we actually have a competitive men's basketball team. As long as BP keeps bringing in good talent the wins will keep coming. |

Lets keep the faith it was just one game... | It may not be all about who is more athletic, we have athletes, they had a couple we have more athletes. There are many variables that go into having a good basketball team and we don't have many of them.
The last couple of seasons we have underachieved, there is no denying that and we will this year as well. This style of offense will not get us past the sweet 16. |
