| | Disgusting! | Bold Statements (some bolder than others) 1. This team should not be compared to last year's team. This team is appreciably better than last year's team.
2. We will generally go as Hopson goes. Tyler will be Tyler. Wayne will be Wayne.
3. This team has as good a chance to make it to the elite eight as any team in the bruceball era.
4. Maze actually does have the ability to take the ball to the basket. But it does not appear that he is cognizant of this ability. Either that, or he is just timid. The last possession against Purdue is an example. He should have cowboy'd up and taken the ball to the rim...the lane was there.
5. On good shooting nights, this will be a very tough team to beat. |

| | Senior Member | Hate to disagree but we still have problems at the point (hat was right, Goins is terrible) McBee is a liability on the defense end. On good shooting nights anybody can beat anybody. Team looks about the same to me. |

| I agree with lots of your points. I think we have to get to the point where we can win while Scotty has a bad night, or else whether we advance in the NCAA's is on his skinny shoulders.
B Maze was supposed to go to the rim on the last possession, that is what Bruce called for. When he drew multiple defenders he threw the ball to Chism who was wide open.
Pearl did not call the 3, but Pearl trusts his players and was not upset that when Purdue collapsed to deny B Maze that Chism took a wide open shot. |

| Everyone keeps saying that Pearl did not call the three, but I've watched it on replay several times, and NOBODY was moving with any urgency to the basket. Please tell me he at least called something.
I'm afraid we have too many guys on the team who want to be the the star.
Goins is pretty bad, and McBee is not very quick on defense.
Scotty and Tyler need to be bigger leaders.
Wayne needs to think about the team before his own stats. |

| I basically agree with everything. This team has to have a "Lofton" to be successful, especially with the offense we run. When Hopson isn't shooting well, we struggle to score. |

| JP has his moments, but I think Tatum should be the starter. (guess I think I know more than CBP LOL). |

Wayne needs to think about the team before his own stats. | Pearl patted the top of his head. I don't know what that play is, but it was the play call.
I won't criticize Wayne for that last shot, Maze should have started the play about 2 seconds earlier.
McBee is what he is. He's not going to be great but he will be a good role player. I'm nto fully ready to give up on Goins yet.
However, I refuse to give Mr. One-and-done any credit until he actually shows up agaisnt a team ranked in the top 200 of the RPI. If you want to lay blame at someone's feet over the course of the game, he would be the one to start with. I've not looked at the stats, but he may have had more turnovers than points. |

| Here's the bottom line on the last shot: The three is a LOW-PERCENTAGE shot; I don't know what the average is for made threes, but I doubt it's even 40 percent. That's one reason to you don't take it. The other there is no possibility of getting fouled when you take a three. Good teams don't take threes in that situation--it's as simple as that. You'd think Pearl and the experienced players would know this by now. Stupid basketball.
RE Goins: Haven't seen him play this year, but the DePaul coach spoke highly of his play the other night. Maze IS too timid. PGs need to make plays sometimes--not just pass the ball and hope somebody else can make one. I was not terribly impressed with him last year, and unless he and Goins get it, ahem, goin' this year, it's hard to see the Vols being real good. |

| | Senior Member | Let's be honest. With this team we have just a good a shot at a 3 as we do as a shot 4 feet from basket.
That was proven during 8 minute stretch last night with 8 missed shots inside 4 feet |

. | What has this team show so far that proves this point? Last night looked like the same old team to me from last year. |

2a. Better halfcourt defense play, and
2b. More turnovers from our opponents. More turnovers from our opponents has in turn resulted in...
3. More offensive possessions for us. And during these offensive possessions...
4. We are playing more aggressively and with better chemistry. |
