Have we solved our problems?

I see pre-season basketball magazines having us picked for the Elite 8 and Top 10 and see posts from fans that this team can reach the final four - but have we solved our problems this off season?

1. Who is going to consistently knock down the 3? Will Hopson, Tatum, or McBee get it done?

2. Will we get quality SEC point guard play out of Maze and Goins?

3. Will our defense be improved and can we press again? Remember last year this team was too slow according to the coach to press. What's changed to make him think we can press?

4. Who is going to step up in the post to spell Chism?

I think this could be a very good team, but in order for it to be a special year we have to have positive answers to these questions.

Lets hope we show we can shoot the 3 we will need it for some games this year,Maze went to some Chris Paul camps so lets see what he does,Pearl said we should be able to press and last im and 8th grade and dont get number 4 but we need chism to be a man this year not a 6,9 guard

No, and it will hurt. But you can still win the majority of your games, if a few other things go right.

I think the biggest challenge is going to be #3 on your list.....it's a great point......our post replacements will be better, we have 2 point guards instead of one, and 3=ball shooters will be better.........but our 2 guards should be playing 3 in this system, that's why wer'e so slow, IMO.....

Yes. TN will be a minimum of 3 positions better in the SEC in 3 point shooting. The above mentioned players and Bobby Maze will also be shooting more and Wayne Chism will not be taking as many 3s.

2. Will we get quality SEC point guard play out of Maze and Goins? Yes. They have depth that is not slow now after Goins is back (which will be before we have any tough games) and so we will be able to press and have guys finish steals with run out again and again.

3. Will our defense be improved and can we press again? Remember last year this team was too slow according to the coach to press. What's changed to make him think we can press?

We added Goins. That is too simple of an answer. We also added Kenny Hall so that when Chism is having asthma we can get him a blow. Finally, JP Prince is not hurt, his ankle is good, his shoulder is good and if he does not play defense this year he will not be making money in Israel playing basketball this time next year.

4. Who is going to step up in the post to spell Chism?

Kenny Hall. He is also going to spell Tyler sometimes. He could be joined by Tobias Harris next year...
