The Attempted Invasion Of New York Continues.

Pearl and Forbes are spending the final day of the July evaluation period at the Summer In The City event on the St. John's campus watching Jayvaughn Pinkston. Also, Tennessee is ramping up its recruitment of Trevor Releford as a possible '10 point guard signee.

You have any evaluations or opinions on these two players, hat?

I'm a huge fan of Pinkston. I find it hard to believe UT can't find a better option at the point than Releford.

I find it hard to believe UT couldn't find better options than Bobby Maze and Melvin Goins.

This administration hasn't exactly bathed itself in glory with its evaluation of point guards.

Tennessee has offered him, so I assume he does.

Rivals only has him as a 2 star in football, but his offer list isn't bad. He would save a scholarship spot on one of the teams if he played both sports, which is always good.

I'd much rather him save a spot on the basketball side.

How much of that do you attribute to panic over Ramar's banishment and West's academic purgatory?

If they hadn't previously recruited Marques Johnson and Cordell Passley I would give them more of a break.

The thing is, even if Ramar had continued to develop and kept on the straight they's be woefully thin at the position.

Yeah, for whatever reason, PG recruitment has been horrendous for this staff. I say, "for whatever reason," because I can't finger why that one position sticks out for them. It seems like Bruce's style of play + the players he gets at other positions would = at least the occasional solid PG prospect.

A Selby article on Rivals mentions that UCLA is looking at Releford, FWTW. Florida and Oklahoma are also on his list.

Hat, do you have any insight on the two 3* guard prospects out of Memphis - Mardracus Wade and Terrence Durham? They both have the Vols listed. Could they help, and how likely is it that they end up in Knoxville?

Thanks.
