hoops Just my opinion...

I know our guys did'nt play well today, however, the CBS announcers were so blatant in their cheering for MS, and also, my gosh, alot of the calls were bad, on both sides of the ball. It seemed like everytime calls went against us, it was always at a very crucial time, esp during the last 3 minutes or so. I wish we had played better, and won, but I'm still proud of us, and I'll be following our team thru the NCAA tourney, and hopefully we'll play better.

Last time I checked, announcers don't have an outcome in the game. Sure it gets annoying to hear them, but the magnitude of the game was much bigger for MSU so it's natural to pull for the underdog who has their NCAA Tournament hopes on the line.

Everyone likes the underdog. That's how the media always works... Unless the better team playing has a chance at number 1

They don't. But this time it was obvious.

I can't count how many time the old freakin' geezers were quick to point out a missed call on us or a bad foul but when JV blocked a shot and managed to knock our player down in the process they'd scream how great a play it was.

Well, I thought it after Bill Rafferty screamed with joy after MS took the lead late in the game. Kinda obvious. I don't think all announcers hate us, but he and Veene both were obviously biased.

Lundquist always seems to cheer for the other team when he calls UT games. Especially in football.

Refs had nothing to do with this outcome. That would be easy to say, but fact of the matter is that MSU showed up and made shots when it counted and when we needed it (i.e. JP making two FTs), we didn't get it done. Had our chance to make runs and we didn't.

I'm surprised that Verne Lundquist isn't slurping Tim Tebow right now. It's pretty clear that he wants to.

IT WAS ABSOLUTELY BLATANT! I was getting so pissed I couldn't handle it, I was watching it with some USC fans and they all picked up on it too!

Don't blame the ref's...don't blame the announcers. In fact, Verne should be commended by putting some energy and drama into that slopfest of a game. Blame the guys that strolled out on that court wearing orange.....that's where the blame belongs.

I think you misunderstood my post...I did'nt mean to say that their announcing had anything to do with the outcome. It just pissed me off. I could've smacked both of them.

I'll blame the refs all I want.

The game should have been 61 all like I said in the game thread.

They screwed us over on Barry Stewart's three foul shots. Someone fouled him and his toe was CLEARLY over the line when shooting the "3" and the refs never checked it. Should have only been 2 free throws.

Think about it... the game out come is WAY different. We aren't playing catch up and we're just playing the last minute of the game possession for possession.

That and the fact that the refs thought Varnado could do no wrong and the fact that the ref on the 5-second call was just wanting to call it were the only things I had issues with.
