i don't know the answer to your ?, but as someone else already posted, it might be a difficult comparison b/c duke-unc is blacked out in a huge portion of their viewing audience whenever they play.
how often do the #1 and #2 teams play each other, on a saturday night, no less? that game was the perfect storm, and I loved every minute of it. best college bball day of my life.
if i were a betting man like you, i'd wager that the average ratings (factoring in blackouts) for the duke-unc game during the past 20 years are higher than any other annual college basketball rivalry. |

The viewing public has a long history of watching overhyped crap. |

| I'll say this. I love basketball more than any other sport. It is one of my favorite things out there.... and yet I couldn't give 2 craps about the Duke - UNC game. |

I watched exactly none of the UNC-Duke game last night. |

Were you watching or attending another game? I mean, how many times a year is there a Top 5 matchup in the regular season between two of the most storied programs in college basketball? Yeah, ESPN hypes the ish out of the game. I hate that, too, but I sure as hell wasn't going to blow it off just to prove some point, or b/c I'm a hater. Are you a hater? Seriously, why did you not watch that game? |

| Because it is an overhyped piece of crap game with a cartoon character as one of the announcers. |

Seriously, why did you not watch that game? | Because no hyped matchup more consistently delivers a garbage game, which is exactly how two NBA scouts I talked to this afternoon characterized last night's tilt, than Duke and UNC. I was far more interested in seeing if Baylor could keep their NCAA hopes alive against Oklahoma and who would win the Utah-San Diego State battle for leadership of the Mountain West than I was anything that happened in Durham. Anyone who thinks Duke is a Top 5 team needs to take up watching another sport. |

Anyone who thinks Duke is a Top 5 team needs to take up watching another sport. | I don't know how you define garbage, but year in and year out, there is almost never more talent on display in the regular season in the same game than when UNC and Duke play each another. Sure, there are years when a game like UT-Memphis can showcase as much talent as your typical UNC-Duke game, but overall no two teams that regularly play each other produce as much NBA talent. At least, not in the last 25 years.
BTW, it was a great game last night. Not garbage at all. Highly entertaining and lots of passion (for those who are passionate about such things). Basically, it was your typical UNC-Duke game. A great game, witnessed by more than a few NBA scouts. Sorry you missed it.
