People in Philadelphia would disagree vehemently and I would side with them.

I'd bet that at least a third of the members of VN weren't alive the last time a Philly team made the Final Four.

I'll take watching Duke, UNC, State and Wake games over Drexel, Nova, LaSalle, Temple, St. Joe's and Penn.

Perhaps he should have said: "If you love college basketball -- and also prefer to not live in cities that suck -- then there is no better place to live than here."

Well, not technically (I bet Bismark ain't too great). But I hear ya. As difficult as it is to live here during college football season, it makes the winters much more enjoyable.

But if you included a radius like you are to get Wake in the mix, there are a helluva lot more schools. Additionally, with all those different leagues involved, you get a huge flavor of folks coming to town to play. You only get ACC.

I bet it takes less time to get from Durham to Winston than it does from one end of Philly to another, but fine. Take Wake out and I'd still greatly prefer those three against the Big 5, Big 6, whatever.

What's more, there is no NBA team to invest in here. College football stinks here. Nobody cares about that. Just college bball.

you still don't have the flavor of college ball that Philly has. They have all kinds of leagues rolling in and out of there throughout the season.

Fair question. Maybe you guys are right.

I suggest we focus on the "relevant" teams only - i.e. the best in the country. So, we'll start with the top 25 and any other "prominent" programs.

If you lived in the triangle, this year you'd get to see:

Duke and UNC (a lot), Wake, Clemson, FSU, Georgetown, Kentucky, Maryland, Marquette.

i'll let you do the same for Philly.

I simply enjoy the off the beaten path games much more now than I do the mega games with overflowing crowds. Plus, I like the flavor of A-10 style ball since those are the teams we played in college.

You continue to mention the polls as if any of us care. Marquette played at Villanova the other night. Tennessee played at Temple. Xavier makes multiple trips into the city, as does Dayton. Not to mention Louisville, Georgetown, Syracuse,et al from the Big East. That's just the games that hit the national radar. It leaves out the intra city wars and classics like Penn-Princeton.

I would rather live on the streets in Philadelphia than anywhere in the state of North Carolina.

whoa now. That's a stretch for me, but I like Philly better for hoops than the Research Triangle.

That said, I'm a golfer.
