| For two posters who often accuse others of wearing orange-colored glasses, your responses confuse me.
The issue is not about juggernauts. The issue is this: you both stated that, at worst, UT would finish no worse than 4th in any conference other than the Big 10. Given that we just lost to one of the three worst teams in our conference, did not get a single vote in either poll, and have 7 other losses to speak of, there's a gaping hole in this argument.
Most conferences are down this year, true. Yet ours has not a single ranked team, and we currently sit at 6th in that conference's standings.
Help me understand how you come to your conclusions. |

Help me understand how you come to your conclusions. | Why would I remotely give a damn what the polls say? Gary Parrish does a great job with his column every Tuesday morning showing the utter idiocy of the voting in those meaningless popularity contests. You're the one acting as if Michigan, who just scored 42 points at home in a game they had to win, is good. With Purdue beaten up, Michigan State is the only team better than Tennessee in the Big 10. Anyone who watched the Mizzou-KU game last night would be hard pressed to act as if either of those teams are world beaters. Even if I grant that both of those teams would finish ahead of Tennessee, which is questionable, name another team in that league that would finish ahead of Tennessee outside of OU. Let's see how good Clemson and Wake look when the year is over. I'm pretty sure I watched Clemson lose at home this weekend to a good, but hardly exceptional, Florida State team. Wake is in free fall. |

Help me understand how you come to your conclusions. | Here's a question: When was the last time the National Player of The Year's team had a home loss to College of Charleston on their resume? |

I'll grant that UT is awful, but you're talking about teams that are awful as well. Posted via VolNation Mobile |

He was still in the running, though far behind, until the second half of that game. I don't see how anyone can catch Griffin now. At least Curry had the stats to warrant a discussion. |

When was the Auburn game?
I take multi-game snapshots, but if I'm looking at the most indicative game, it's the last one we played. |

however, UT was on thin ice before the Auburn game - they had 7 other losses and just one win against a team currently in the top-25. The Auburn game to me cemented that they would not contend for a top-4 spot in the leagues we discussed. Wake had just recently beaten the #1 team in the country when you made that prediction.
As a side note, make no mistake, I pull for the SEC but am much more entertained by the ACC, especially since I'm not too emotionally invested in any one team in this conference. If you truly love college basketball, there's no better place to live than here. |
