Am I going to be treated like this after years and years of service..if I have one of the top winning percentage in the NCAA? And just won the East last year?

Bruce Pearl thinks that, if he goes 10 years without winning an SEC basketball title, he should be fired.

I bet Pearl understands 10 years of mediocrity warrants dismissal.

I just saw him on Channel 10, and he said he knows his popularity will wax and wane depending on his up and down years..............he knows winning is important, and if he doesn't win as much in some years, he will be less popular. Sharp guy.

I doubt that he has any problem whatsoever with dismissing an incompetent coach, but if he does, then he should follow Fulmer and company out the door.

Phil???, John???

Nice try. Nice comparison. You're overlooking the fact that Bruce Pearl has resurrected a mediocre aspect of UT sports, and Fulmer has created one.

Thanks for stopping by.

Be sure and post your little list at the end of this season when '98 is replaced by '08 in the 10 year measure. See how that treats your hero.

Another nice try.

But check out his record against (a) SEC opponents, (b) SEC East opponents, (c) Top 10 opponents, (d) bowl record, and (e) -vs- Meyer, Richt, and Saban in that same span.

Hint: The percentage will be much, much lower.

If we're going to compete in the SEC, we need to win in the SEC. Use the right numbers to make your argument.

Bama was a rare, rare, rare situation. They just got screwed on several occasions. That's not what normally happens.

Well, you are defending him.

You posted your numbers, and we posted ours.

Hint II: If you have to defend your argument, perhaps it wasn't a good argument to start with.

go vols.

The difference between Fulmer and Pearl are very clear. One can recruit, make changes during a game, challenge players to step it up, inforce desclipine, true grit and determination to be a winner. The other hangs is head on the sideline, claps his hand and pats the player who messed up then on Sundays say: We are going to work like heck to fix that dagnabbit. One is a coach the other is Elmer Fudd

Best case at 8-5, about 69% (17th-ish)
Worst case at 3-9, about 66% (22nd-ish)
