He lost to Loyola Chicago when it counted. Just because some idiot sportswriters had Tennessee under ranked preseason doesn't grant him a pass for that disgrace of a loss.

So I guess you think Roy Williams and Tom Izzo are awful also?

Did you just start watching basketball? There is a lot of randomness involved and the best team doesn’t always win. That’s just how it works, unless of course you think UMBC is better than Virginia.

Take a look at what this team has done over the course of the entire season; it’s impossible to deny how great Barnes has been for us.

You have Gruden in your screen name, which means you bought into the Gruden mania. That automatically discredits you from being able to carry a logical discussion here.

Now when somebody asks what a drive-by is, we have, perhaps, the ultimate example! Good grief! :thud:

Rick Barnes had a fantastic regular season and the Vols are primed for success next year due to everything he's built, but ending by losing two of three and missing the Sweet Sixteen is a disappointment and enough to cost him National Coach of the Year.

It was still a good season, but the National Coach of the Year finds a way to get to the tournament's second weekend against an inferior Loyola-Chicago team.

Out of the 4 coaches on the list, only 1 ( Wright at Villanova) is still playing in the tourney. Barnes overachieved more than any of the other 3 coaches the list. Should be a slam dunk!

And as we have all the money fbi investigations this year along with Jim Boeheim and Roy williams shenanigans getting off scott free. Rick barnes has always done it right. That doesn’t translate into COTY but says a lot in my mind.
