I can't see them NOT giving it to Barnes, am I right?

If Bruce Pearl gets it I'll be very disappointed.

Don’t know, but when they do, it oughtta be Rick Barnes, given that he accomplished every bit as much if not more than Bruce this year and he doesn’t have the dark cloud of a pending FBI investigation over him....not to mention none of his assistants have been arrested by the Feds. I don’t believe the SEC wants their COY tainted like Pearl surely is/will he, especially when they have a clean coach they can easily choose instead.

i have a lot of respect for coach barnes and i hope he is awarded the recognition.

Nope. pearl is a proven liar AND cheater. He deserves nothing good!!

Relax Myron. He made Tennessee what they are. He showed what can be done here. He has the most successful era in Tennessee basketball history and it's not close. He is why the refurbished the arena. He is why they built Pratt. This job was labeled a career killer before him.

Now what you do not understand.
When a player is on an unofficial visit, all they can do is feed them a meal on campus and give them tickets to the game. He had a Friday BBQ for his team and friends. There was 2 unofficial visitors on campus. They where not invited and another player not knowing the rules brought them to his house. He was not cheating and had no knowledge of them coming. He did not tell them to leave. A VERY MINOR infraction. They should have reported (HAMILTON'S fault) and it would have been absolutely nothing. He knew he did nothing wrong and took the wrong approach. However, every coach in America bends, breaks rules and lies. EVERY SINGLE ONE!!!! Its partly because the rules are in some cases ridiculous. And it's every athletic directors job to keep their coaches out of trouble.

Because Hamilton got smacked by Haslem and Anderson and was forced to fire Buzz when he did not want to, he hated that Pearl was here. He saw a chance to get even and he did not do his job.

Hate all you want. Most could care a less. The guy has won every where and has never been caught cheating other then that stupid BBQ where he had nothing to do with it. All he did was build facilities (much needed), pack the house and take Tennessee further then they ever had. And show the world you can succeed at Tennessee.

Here is to you Bruce :superman::rock2:

Pearl may not have a job next season, may be his last hurrah! He lied and served his no cause so shut up about it. He did what AU wanted go for worst to first, not an easy job. I still think the job Barnes did was superior, basically the same thing but without any 5-star talent. Barnes should be COY, minimum co-COY

Nice story Batman, but you are completely wrong on the history of UT Basketball. During the late 1960's and early to mid 1970's we had an excellent program under a coach by the name of Ray Mears. Bruce did rejuvenate the program from the deep but I will never hold him on the same level as Mears, who was really the first dedicated basketball coach at UT.

The problem during the Mears era was the NCAA tournament was only 16-20 teams in those days and secondary to the NIT in some ways. And no SEC team, not named Kentucky, was given proper recognition during that era. Even though UT had a string of wins against the Wildcats.

Also, the NCAAT only took one team per conference for most of the Mears era. The teams weren't seeded either... there were no easy draws or bad opening game opponents.

To answer the question in the thread title, Mike White was named the SEC COY the day before the 2017 SECT began. So I'd guess it will be announced day after tomorrow.
