I agree. What makes this blown lead remarkable is that we blew an 18 point lead with ~16 minutes to play in a relatively low scoring game. We were outscored 41-18 to finish out a 64-59 loss. In a 64-59 game, you'd think an 18-point 2nd half lead would feel safe. I'm guessing our players felt the same way and went into coast mode and never got out of it. The absence of upperclassmen leadership and general team experience just compounded that.

Hubbs killed MSU in Knoxville. They made a point to take him out of the game. Shadowed him, double-teamed him when he got the ball. He got few, if any clean looks, and IMO, we didn't try to utilize him enough offensively. It's not in his nature to demand the ball, but that isn't unique to today.

Must be a problem playing Mississippi teams. Second time this season that they have beat the crap out of a team from there, then just fallen asleep in the second half and gotten embarrassed.

Barnes' comments:

“Twenty-one offensive rebounds will win you a lot of games,” Barnes said. “So when you rebound the way we did, and when you turn the ball over the way we did and shoot free throws like we did, we don’t deserve to win.”

“Grant Williams was willing to hang out on the perimeter,” Barnes said in reference to Williams making only 2 of 8 shots inside the 3-point arc. “Robert wasn’t a factor, he wasn’t himself on either end. Turnovers in the first half and missed free throws let them back in the game.”

“They called a goal tend on Grant that wasn’t a goal tend; it would have been a shot-clock violation and been a one-possession game,” Barnes said. “We looked at it, and it wasn’t a goal tend, it was a great block.

“But forget that, we didn’t deserve to win. We didn’t fight hard enough.

Refreshing?
Some of the fans are being dogged on here for making comments like his last one.
Started to post that last one as my own and see what the response would be.
