I'm assuming this means it's official.

Tulsa assistant Michael Schwartz is headed to Tennessee to join Rick Barnes’ staff, sources told ESPN.

Down times or not, I would never use the term "nothing" and Tennessee together jmo. :ermm:

Hopefully the new blood is a guy not afraid to tap Barnes on the shoulder and whisper, 'You need some size coach.'

And that's not WSS.

Yeah kinda weird. Is Texas Tech really a better job than UNLV?

He was an assistant at tech for 10 years and has 2 daughters who live an hour from Tech's campus, they were also willing to pay him double what UNLV was, he'd have been an idiot to stay.

I did not know details, but Texas Tech plays in a much tougher conference and he will have a greater challenge. Tubby went 9-9 in conference and was COY. Texas Tech is probably his dream job.

Wonder if that's any kind of record for the shortest tenure at a school.
According to ESPN, it's up there for sure:

Chris Beard, who agreed to become men's basketball coach at UNLV on March 28, reached a five-year deal with Texas Tech on Friday. Other notable short coaching stints:

* Bill Belichick resigned as Jets head coach after 1 day; became Patriots head coach 24 days later.

* Bobby Petrino lasted 13 games with the Falcons in 2007.

* Billy Donovan briefly left the Florida Gators for the Orlando Magic in 2007.

* In December 1992, Jerry Tarkanian resigned as head coach of the San Antonio Spurs after just 20 games.

* Dan Marino was named Dolphins GM on Jan. 12, 2004 and resigned on Feb. 3.

* Rick Majerus took the USC job in 2004, then resigned five days later to over concerns of his sick mother.
