I was at UT when Ernie Grunfeld and Bernard King were playing at UT. For those of you who don't remember, it was long enough ago that UK was undefeated in SEC play in football one year (1977). That was John Majors first year at UT and I went to the game in Lexington. UK fans were expecting to roll over the Vols but had a difficult time winning; I believe I remember correctly the game was tied at half. In any event, the Vols fans were there were egging on the UK fans who were upset their team wasn't pounding the Vol football team. The biggest response Vols fans got was our chant of "Ernie and Bernie". For UK fans, Ernie and Bernie, was among their great historic nemeses. Maybe not Christian Laettner nemesis level but up there. Happy Birthday, Ernie!!
