A few weeks ago, the best coaches in the SEC were Cal, Donovan, Pearl, and Andy Kennedy.

Now?
John Calipari - 593-174, (0.773), 15 NCAA Tournaments, 12 Sweet Sixteens, 10 Elite Eights, 6 Final Fours, 3 Championship Games, 1 Championship, and possibly maybe another coming

Billy Donovan - 502-206 (0.709), 14 NCAA Tournaments, 8 Sweet Sixteens, 7 Elite Eights, 4 Final Fours, 2 NCAA Championships

Ben Howland - 399-208 (0.657), 10 NCAA Tournaments, 2 Sweet Sixteens, 3 Final Fours, 1 Championship Game

Bruce Pearl - 476-163 (0.745), 8 NCAA Tournaments, 3 Sweet Sixteens, 1 Elite 8

Rick Barnes - 604-314 (0.658), 22 NCAA Tournaments, 6 Sweet Sixteens, 3 Elite Eights, 1 Final Four

The Rest:

Mike Anderson - 286-146 (0.662), 7 NCAA Tournaments, 1 Sweet Sixteen, 1 Elite Eight

Mark Fox - 228-130 (0.637), 5 NCAA Tournaments

Johnny Jones - 266-199 (0.574), 3 NCAA Tournaments

Kim Anderson - 283-117 (0.708)

Andy Kennedy - 213-126 (0.627), 2 NCAA Tournaments

Frank Martin - 162-108 (0.600), 5 NCAA Tournaments, 1 Elite Eight (All with K-State)

Billy Kennedy - 282-240 (.540), 2 NCAA Tournaments

Kevin Stallings - 436-269 (0.618), 8 NCAA Tournaments, 2 Sweet Sixteens

With the additions of Howland and Barnes, this just became a MUCH better conference in terms of coaching talent.

Looking forward to the future with CRB!

And just to give you an idea....

The coaches in the ACC (Coach K, Roy Williams, Brey, Pitino, etc) have combined for a total of 168 appearances in the NCAA tournament. And the ACC consists of 15 schools.

The coaches in the SEC have combined for a total of 149 NCAA Tournament appearances. Keep in mind that the Alabama job is vacant, and even with Alabama, we only have 14 schools.

And IF (God forbid) Alabama were to hire Gregg Marshall, with his 11 Tourney appearances, we would only trail the ACC by 8 in appearances.

So, the SEC has definitely improved its level of coaching talents. We are still THE football conference, but it won't be long before teams other than Kentucky make noise on the hardwood consistently.

Just a neat stat.

Better yet, we get a full off-season to brag about having the all-time winningest coach in the conference.

Would like to see TN make a final four just once before I kick it!

Maybe Barnes can get us there!? Bruce was only about 2 points away.

I like your stats and totally agree with your assessments. However, in the specific case of Coach Cal, are you counting several NCAA appearances that have been subsequently vacated by the NCAA for rules infractions?

Last few years? Not to start the Cuonzo debate but we were winning 19 games per year just short of two years ago.

"Yeah, you're not gonna have Tennessee to kick around anymore!"

Oh no. It's like a nightmare.

Stallings and Martin are having some rough years. Martin should be able to get USCjr better. Stallings has had a ton of issues and hopefully gets it fixed soon. Jones at LSU has no excuse if he doesn't have a top 25 team. UF had a historically bad year for the Billy D era. Pearl is already improving a crappy AU roster. Howland can only improve a down MSU program.

Only ones I'm not sure on are Anderson, Kennedy (who is recruiting better, but still needs to prove it), and Fox (who is better than I expected).

A lot of potential in this league.
