Unless someone donates big money to UTAD, Tennessee will not have the funds to hire an upper tier coach. They will be forced to search out a bargain hire coach from the mid majors or lower tiers who would consider it a raise. Tennessee is in the same financial boat now that they were in last year when CDT was hired or 5 years ago when Martin was hired.. So unless there is a serious infusion of cash, status quo. All this said while Alabama is reportedly offering almost 4mil.. The bar is raised and Tennessee does not, at present, have those type of funds to get into the arms race...

Jimmy Hyams stated this morning that they can pay 3 million annual salary. Maybe more. If you cannot attract an a lister with that kind of money then the whole AD needs to be overhauled.

You're talking out of your ass. Hart just said this was our best year financially since he's been here. We have the cash.

Give Bruce 2 mill base and his assistants the other mill and give him a commission. He earns the program more money, the bigger check he gets. Make this happen for first 3 years then revisit a new contract. Lol. Bruce is a salesman after all. Lol

If that's true, that changes the argument somewhat.

What doesn't change is that some of the Tennessee basketball players will be playing for their third HC in as many seasons. That 's a tough situation in which to put a student-athlete. Think about if you had new boss for three consecutive years...never mind personalities, think about all the changes that take place with new leadership.

I agree UT will be shopping in the clearance aisle but UT can afford to pay about whatever it wants. It chooses not too. UTAD knows Vol fans will support whatever coach they trot out there. There is zero motivation to spend a lot of money on a BB coach. Expect more of the same.

His actions off the court we just as pertinent as his on court accomplishments. We can do much better in every aspect or context.
