Congratulations to Jarnell Stokes for earning his first NBA contract! He busted his butt off and earned it! He had many doubters, and unfortunely most of them were fellow Vol fans. But he made it and his dream came true. Stokes will be playing in Memphis TN for at least the next couple of years and not Europe where most said he would be. He inked up his deal today.

@ChrisVernonShow: The Grizzlies signed Jarnell Stokes. 3 yr deal, third yr is team option. $725k 1st yr, $840k 2nd yr, $980k 3rd yr.

That's awesome. Congrats to him. Hope he doesn't go spend all of that in one spot...

Easily one of my favorite players of all time. Can't wait to see all the double doubles in the NBA over the next 10 years. Congrats to Stokes

Those will be few and far between. He is going to struggle big time, scoring in the paint

I can't have faith in a player? I don't care about summer league one bit. You keep up your rep as an a**hole. I have my opinion and I really didn't care for hearing yours.

At least he got signed and is repping the vols in the nba. Just being in the nba is a huge achievement, at least be happy for the kid, even if you think he'll suck.

Congrats Jarnell. Happy to see you bring some pain to nba instead of uk big guys :p

It's gonna be good to see him in the Forum. I think he'll hold his own.

I'm glad he's getting a shot, but I think he will be nothing but a marginal player, which is ok. I think JM will have a better NBA career.

90% of NBA contracts are guaranteed. They even have amnesty clauses that pay players their contract $$$ even when they are felt to other teams- Mike Miller.

2nd round picks and undrafted free agents a lot of time aren't which is why i asked....Philly just signed a guy to a partially guaranteed contract. If it's guaranteed then it's not a bad deal for stokes but if it's not then he got screwed..I hope he represents us in a big way.

when he did get his shot blocked, it was often due to poor spacing and little movement and Hall or Maymon's man was usually close or even escorted over. With a little room, he has several ways to score, and there is more room in the nba game

A guy named Dennis Rodman made a pretty good career playing defense and rebounding. Averaged less than 8 ppg. Plenty of scorers in NBA

This, plus he was getting doubled team on the reg and I can guarantee that he will not be getting doubled in the league. He will be battling Leur (sp) for the back up minutes and will learn from ZBo. He couldn't have asked for a better situation to be in. Plus on top of all of that he'll be playing in front of his hometown.

it sounds guaranteed the way it is written but i have seen many times where it is partially on non- guaranteed where basically the team can cut him at any time with little compensation but they have him locked in for four yrs if they want him. it only happens with 2nd round picks and undrafted free agents. I was hoping its fully guaranteed

I am not a big NBA fan, but I just now became a Grizzlies fan. Glad he made it and was signed.
