Braxton Bonds- CPA 2014 PG

Three-star 2014 point guard Braxton Bonds from Nashville's Christ Presbyterian Academy plans to walk-on at Tennessee this season, a source close to Bonds' recruitment told govols247 on Sunday.

Bonds, a 6-foot-1, 170-pound star at CPA, signed with NCAA Division I program Liberty in November but has since apparently had a change of heart.

He did say it was doubtful he would be eligible this year, but not definite. If I missed a thread on this, please feel free to remove mine.

The source said it's "doubtful" that Bonds would be eligible to play for Tennessee this season since he initially signed with a different Division I program, but no final decision has been made on that end.

If Bonds is to be added as a walk-on, something will have to change. UT trimmed the men’s basketball roster to 13 scholarship positions and two walk-ons headed into the 2012-13 season. Tyndall already has two walk-ons — Brandon Lopez and Galen Campbell — on his roster. He said Sunday those players will continue to be walk-ons.

That's big if he can play right away and can be serviceable at the point.

I'm not sure how much you could expect, but at the very least he's a guy who can handle the ball and push guys in practice.
