Until he messes up at UT I'm not going to judge him on his hires. Hart has said he wants to fix football first and I think so far he's done a pretty damn good job. So let's not jump the man pointing fingers at his past before he makes a bball hire. You also have to remember there's more to this decision than just Dave hart the boosters have a big say so as well and I'm willing to bet the boosters here care a lot more about bball than those at ecu or FSU

The boosters will have a say so. They better if the new coach needs to use their planes to get us some big time recruits.

How is this relevant

1.) Dave Hart is our AD
2.) He is about to make a basketball hire

Was Dooley's coaching record before coming to TN relevant? Is anybody's resume information relevant when considering them for a position at work?

Not saying I think Hart will make a bad hire (I hope and pray he hits a homerun.) but the info in the OP is most definitely relevant.

Leonard Hamilton remains at FSU. The rest of his record should be taken into account. This, his last hire, was the best one he's made in basketball.

Noles have been pretty good under Hamilton's watch.

Hart is at a school with fans who actually care about basketball and the facilities to match that interest. The pool of talent open to him will be much greater than he's experienced in any of his previous stops as AD.

I'm curious why Leonard hamilton's record after hart left isn't counted? His hire winning doesnt count because he wasn't there? Weird

I've been to a game at the Tucker Civic Center. It is a dump, an early-80s eyesore the city gave away to FSU. The level of interest in the program is somewhere between Ole Miss and Kennesaw State.

The fact Hart was able to convince Hamilton to take the job at that hoops hellhole after his stint with the Wizards is big plus in his favor.

If he can do that at Half A$$ U, then he can easily get a quality hire at Tennessee.

Didn't hart also get grant at Alabama? Looks bad in hindsight, but he was one of the hottest names at the time

He definitely made the "deal" happen. I can't find the article but I read somewhere that Grant wasn't sure about leaving VCU but Hart was eventually the one that convinced him.

When you need a negotiator, you better have Hart on your side. I've said this before, but people may forget that Hart was the KEY guy when ACC expanded back in the day. I guarantee he was a key guy when expanding the SEC because he had already done it.

Hart likes guys that can consistently be a great recruiter. Because if something happen where he would have to fire someone or hire someone, the talent will still be there. Butch definitely hustles on recruitment.

Thread is completely useless. For example Hired Steele whose record was 124 - 40 before ECU.

You must have a lot of time on your hands to compile a pointless thread of this nature.

A thread during a basketball coaching search detailing Hart's previous basketball hires is pointless. Okay.

Thanks for the info OP.

UT is a piss poor job right now. We will continue to fail in all major sports for the forseeable future.

You gonna cry?

Nah, why would I?

That would be foolish to cry over this.

I am kind of laughing at how dysfunctional the whole system is and has been for a while....

The Media, the Fanbase, the Administration, the AD. Plus the fact we are broke.

New Order and level of chaos.
