Glad to have you on board. I'll answer the question. The recruiting class is not getting a ton of love, but I see each recruit being a position of need.
Larry Austin is a true PG that would be considered a defensive specialist. He has good ball handling skills and an improving jumper. He will compete to start from day 1. He would be considered the gem of this class by rank.
Jordan Cornish is a hybrid 2/3. He's physically mature and can get to the rim. Seems to be a streaky shooter and many consider is shooting form lacking. Clearly one of the best players in LA. He may be a bigger Armani Moore type with advanced offensive skills than Armani when he was a frosh. May take a couple years for him to truly contribute, but he has upside.
Phil Cofer is a legacy player. He's wiry, aggressive, has good timing on defense and can jump out of the gym. He will need to put on some weight, but I feel he can contribute right away on the blocks. It will take some time adjusting to the speed and physicality of college ball, but I really like his game.
CJ Turman is a bruiser that matured faster than everyone else and then people surpassed him over time. He is a little raw on the offensive end and I wouldn't consider him greatly athletic. He is a CCM type defensive player that will rebound. I am not saying he is a project, but he will have to truly work on footwork and position on offense or else he will be a liability on that end of the floor.
I am trying to be objective with these assessments and not over-hype them, but not make them out to be garbage. We had needs and we were filling them. We may end up getting a transfer big. I would like to have a shooter as well. This is not going to be considered a Top 25 class, but it is solid for what we needed so far. Also, this is VN. Get used to the abrasive ways of others. Hope you have thick skin. Welcome aboard again.
