Why didn't Jarnell know? Jarnell said in his post game interview that he didn't have the slightest idea he could have a charge called on him in that situation. He said if he thought there was the slightest chance he would have used a spin move or a double move. Question, why was he never coached that by any of his coaches?

It takes a special kind of ref to let a judgement call decide a game like that. Good refs wouldn't make a call unless it's obvious one way or the other. Most refs in all sports, at all levels, are taught to call what you see, not what you think you see. And when it's that time of the game, to swallow whistles unless it's egregious both ways.

How many other ways can we stupidly spin this topic?

I'm not a CM fan, but even I admit this is absolutely ridiculous.

From the rulebook:
"Under the revised block/charge call in men's basketball, a defensive player is not permitted to move into the path of an offensive player once he has started his upward motion with the ball to attempt a field goal or pass," according to the new rule. "If the defensive player is not in legal guarding position by this time, it is a blocking foul. Previously, a defender had to be in legal guarding position when the offensive player lifted off the floor."

Stokes, direct quote, verbatim (Wes Rucker) "today in practice we learned that you actually can be called for charges in any situation. to counter this, coach told us we can execute a spin move or a double move that can never be called as fouls"

Laugh of the day. Thanks.

he meant he had no idea it was a charge because of his movement and where his shoulder, hip and leg was, along with a moving defender.
It was basically a nice way to call out the officials.
Stokes is such a solid person. Even if defeat.

Did anyone see that push in the mich state game? That no-call was even more bs than our yes-call

Because it shouldn't have been a charge.

That call didn't necessarily cost us the game. We don't know if any point would have resulted if there had not been a call.

What if his shot was blocked and Michigan got the ball? What if his shot his the rim and Michigan got the rebound?

I don't like the call but I don't necessarily think that it cost us the game. Now, if Stokes had scored and then the ref's waived it off due to the charge, then I could say that waiving off the basket cost us the game.

Let's not sound like Titan's fans. "Yeah, we were 2 yards short of winning the SuperBowl"

1st you don't know that Del Greco would have made the extra point, because he missed a couple of kicks in the 1st half.

2nd Had there been a T.D. and an extra point, that would only tie the game, not win it. So, now you play for over time.

Still no guarantee that Titans win in overtime......

Ummm he said it shouldn't have been a charge; he never said anything about it costing us the game, nor did he say we would have won had the charge not been called.

Geez, you just feel the need to make a speech or something, because the only one making assumptions here is you.

Because it was a Flop... just like your question.

No doubt it was an obvious flop and a terrible call, but I don't think it is as bad as the missed basket interference call when Thompson missed that layup with a few minutes left in the game. That is an automatic 2 points, right? Huge if so.

Well, that should pretty much end any discussion defending the ref.

The fact of the matter was that the michigan guy had pretty decent position. If he was moving, it wasn't be much. It is also true that stokes was doubled. Stokes shouldn't have gotten the ball in the first place--stupid play call. Second, he should have passed immediately, but had it in his head that he had to make a play--because I assume that he WAS the play. Third, he did lower his shoulder a bit. Fourth, yes, some officials would not have blown the whistle at all, but had there been no whistle we would have lost because Stokes lost the ball. Fifth, the ball should have gone to McRae or Richardson. Sixth, people can always complain about the officiating. Bottom line: We threw it to Stokes and it was a fail. Had Martin made the sensible decision, we would have at least gotten a shot--and Stokes could have been near the basket for a rebound, which is what he should have been doing--not trying to beat a double team.
