Martin and Howland top 2

Thinks he's probably gone, and who can blame him. Marquette will clearly offer big bucks, doubt Hart matches.

And the funny part, I've seen Purdue fans on Facebook mad they held onto Painter too long.

This has been quite a funny year.

Marquette hadn't offered Howland, now names Martin and Howland top 2. It would appear that Martin is their #1 to me.

You'd have to take Howland if that was the case. But Stokes would be gone.

That would be the only silver lining. We would HAVE to make that happen.

Pretty much. No way you can leave that big of a name out there in this situation.

You go with an unproven coach after all that's happened and...wow.

If Martin does go, who are some coaches we may go after outside of the obvious?

The problem with Howland is that he is damaged goods. His reputation as a coach was in the toilet at the end of his U.C.L.A. run. His teams had a reputation as being undisciplined on and off the court. He wasn't winning big with big time talent, and his players were constantly in the news. I think this is why Marquette would be willing to buy Martin out and pay him instead of just paying Howland.
