Dang. Wish him the best. One of the best supporting staffers in the country imo

What's he going to do?
Looking for other professional opportunities. After weighing the time away from his family and the fact that he still didn't have a coaching position, he elected to take his life in a different direction.

I don't know if they changed it, but I read it last night as a free article. They don't put all articles under subscription- just ones by their big writers, who I probably don't care to read anyway.

My guess is Pancratz will end up in coaching again very soon.

Like, this time next year for a coach currently out of coaching perhaps? Wink wink.

Not sure Pancratz wants to leave the Knoxville area. I seem to remember reading his blog, following the former staff's dismissal, stating a desire to remain in coaching, but also in east Tennessee. I could be misremembering that though.

On his Twitter account he linked to a VERY long letter that he had written explaining the reasons for leaving, mainly centered around stuff like not wanting his wife to basically be a single mom for half of the year, feeling bad when his little daughter tells him he's never at home, and not wanting to miss out on his second child that they just had grow up. Maybe he'll change his mind, but he sounded sure of himself.

Best of luck to him with whatever he does! It seems like he's really given his all for UT, and it admirable that he's willing to put his family before his career.

Good luck to Mark. I've always liked him a lot. I can't blame him for wanting to spend time with his family.

Certain articles will be free for a short time and then they pull them. That's how I read it when I read their article about going to a pay site. It sure was convenient of them to do it right before football season.

He left because he knew Cuonzo was never going to give him an opportunity to advance and he was tired of working so hard for very little money.

Time will tell on whether he rejoins the profession, but either way, I'm appreciative that he is being so considerate to his family.

Where did the potential exist to move up? Were there any openings? That's life. Can't put this on Cuonzo.

I would guess he's referring to the spot Fancher left and Marco Harris is in now.

I'd guess that the hours and pay weren't enough for Pancratz to keep working with UT in his position. He will land on his feet. From what I can tell, he's very self-driven and has a great attitude.

The spot vacated by Houston Fancher was open, and ultimately ended up being filled by Martin's childhood friend.

Regardless, the main point was that he didn't want to be away from his family so much. So it doesn't matter what his position or salary was. Money isn't always everything. Coaches families make a lot of sacrifices.
