| I refer you to the old 3 strikes and you're out rule.
Nowadays, neither football nor men's basketball programs (the high-profile sports) can afford more than 3 seasons of empty seats, the resulting loss of revenue, loss of interest, disgruntled fans, or the attendant embarrassment of falling to the bottom of a conference in which you were once a contender. As the embarrassment spreads, the coach's job security becomes less and less stable. |

Schools can't afford to wait any longer for results. |
