I'm guessing you only drive pickups and/or SUVs.

Unofficial Visits are generally taken prior to the end of the student athlete's junior year of high school. There is no limit to the number of Unofficial Visits an athlete may make to any given college. On such a visit, the college is allowed to provide the athlete with the following:
Free admission to a school athletic event
Complimentary transportation up to 30 miles off campus to the team's practice field, gymnasium, stadium, or other athletic facility on the condition that no sporting event is taking place during that time at the facility.
At DI and DII schools, a free meal at the on-campus dining facility or an off campus facility if there is not an open one on campus.
At DIII schools, a free meal and housing if it is common procedure to provide all prospective students with such privileges.

Would think on a Friday afternoon there would have been on open on campus facility. So based on what you posted, unless the King family and CCM were seen eating on campus, the King family probably paid their own bill.

What is an "Extra Benefit"?
The NCAA defines an extra benefit as any special arrangement by an institutional employee or a representative of the institution's athletics interest ("booster/donor") to provide a student-athlete (or a student-athlete's relative or friend) a benefit that is not generally available to other UT students and their relative and/or friends. Therefore, please be aware of the following:

1. A student-athlete cannot accept anything from an employee of UT or athletic booster/donor (e.g., use of a car, hair cut, clothing, gifts, money, tickets for any kind of entertainment, payment of long distance telephone calls).
...

4. A student-athlete cannot accept free or reduced merchandise or services from any merchant unless that free or reduced cost item is also available to the general public.

5. A student-athlete cannot eat at a restaurant as the guest of an athletic booster/donor or an employee of UT.

Yes it has to be paid for thru the admission office and it's only for the prospect and not family members. On official visits meals for the family are paid for by the athletic department. So the statement that cm paid for the meal for the family isn't accurate.

You been on the road recently? the typical family car is a SUV or a minivan. And no I don't drive a pickup or SUV. Maybe you guys should define what is a typical family vehicle for a family with a 6'7" kid to ride 6 hours one way is.

While you might be able to find examples of mid-sized vehicles or larger that get better than 30mpg. Most vehicles that would be considered "family" vehicles do not do that well.

My dad has a Corvette (gets roughly 27 mpg highway), mom has an Accord, and I have a Versa. Grandparents have a Fusion hybrid. Just talking on my own personal experience.

When people talk about a family car they are talking about the one that the family takes when everyone goes somewhere together. I doubt families pile into corvettes to take road trips.

Since when is a car considered an SUV or a Minivan?

Absolutely not, but I've taken several road trips over hundreds of miles with 3 passengers and their cargo comfortably. The Versa hatchback is deceptively roomy.
