Would be fun while it lasted.

Doesn't matter. It's all legal talk. He's getting a paycheck, Hart has a basketball coach, they'll figure it out. This does happen a lot. Didn't Bruce work without a contract too for awhile?

I think that might have been at the end that Pearl was working without a contract.

Yeah, that was the case.

Billy Gillespie never signed a contract with UK. He was the coach for two years. His lack of a contract probably had little if any impact on anything other than his compensation/buyout when they canned him. As long as CCM is meeting UT expectations I don't see an issue.

Just curious, does anyone know what sticking point CCM has on his contract preventing his agreement?

That's what I was wondering. You'd think the major stuff was worked out long ago. People cite the AD change, but how much difference does that make when there was already an existing MOU? What's the holdup in converting that to a formal contract?

Did you guys see the contract that was just release for Urban Meyer at OSU? That thing was ridiculously long and detailed. One of the things that stood out was Meyer had language included to basically give him an opt out with pay if further violations, from the previous staff, came up. Contracts involving million dollar employees are going to be long and complex. A change at AD following the mess that got Martin hired int he first place had to complicate thing even further. Hopefully this was just not at the top of all parties involved to do lists. However, based on Martin's comments in this article, I will begin to have concerns if this goes on into July.

According to CCM it's because he and Hart have both just been in and out of the office and haven't been in at the same time much together. Supposedly it's expected to be done within the next week or two.

Disagree with the just getting started. He was Head Coach before getting to UT. Granted he's not been coaching 20 years, but the point I am making is about due consideration. I used Cal as and example of how one school handles a situation different than UT.

Guess Hart has just been too busy getting rid of administrative staff to finalize a contract for Martin.

Nothing wrong with that. It's more/less UT taking CM for a "test drive". If they don't like him, it will be a lot easier to let him go than if he had a contract. Good for UT, bad for CM, imo.
