Have to be born after Jan 1, 1994. Stokes is Jan 7.

Can't remember off the top of my head which team he coached, but they were all college kids. I believe I remember Darius Miller and John Jenkins on the team giving Counzo raving reviews.

Oh so the committee looked at coaches to see who had recruits on the team then made a choice? I doubt it.

Sure it worked out this year that Donovan only had one recruit there, but I don't think his point was purely this year.

I was wrong, it wasn't U18 or U19. He was an assistant for the USA Basketball Men’s World University Games Team.

I am fairly certain that any type of recruiting at these things is a no-no. Plus, it's not like Donavon is the only big named guy there. Beoheim, Martin from SoCar, and Smart are all there. Anyone doing anything out of line would get ratted out by everyone else.

Very true, but the possible tiny advantage say Donovan could gain by the time spent with Nichols could be impactful and a chance other coaches don't get.

While I doubt there's anything going on, the fact that they are there while other coaches can't even watch guys play seems a bit hypocritical.

Seems more paranoia than anything else. These coaches volunteer to be a part of the USA basketball program. They take time away from their own programs and families to help build a foundation for USA international basketball. I seriously doubt they do all that on the off chance they get an unnamed recruit alone in a hallway. If Martin was an assistant on this team nobody on here would blink an eye about it.

Some wouldn't, but I absolutely would admit its odd and a bit hypocritical. You don't think it's a bit wrong that while other coaches can't even watch recruits in person, these coaches are getting to practice them, run them through specific drills, work with them, and then take them out to movies and what not? It's naive to think that there's ZERO chance that there's no relationships established, scouting advantages gained, and even tiny advantages on a recruiting front by being with these kids night and day.

I didn't mention Donovan. I said any coach. Good thing we can count on you to be objective.

But since you did mention, Nichols got to form a relationship and be coached by BD at practice and probably have contact after practice on a personal level. That's bull****. Unless every other coach recruiting him can do the same.

Exactly my point. As miniscual as it may be, there is a contact there that other coaches are not allowed to have, and that's not right. When the NCAA prides itself of an these rules and regulation to create equal opportunities for coaches, and then let this go on, that's nothing short of hypocritical.

Do I need to say anymore than this?

Whoever the coach is may get a small advantage in building a relationship with a recruit or two. But they're giving up their time, which they could be using to actually recruit, to try to better USA basketball. It's a non-issue because no coach in their right mind would take the position in hopes that it would benefit them from a recruiting standpoint. The only reason it's an issue here is because that one player happens to be UT's top target.
