Sure it worked out this year that Donovan only had one recruit there, but I don't think his point was purely this year. |

He was an assistant for the USA Basketball Men’s World University Games Team. USA Basketball: Cuonzo Martin |

Plus, it's not like Donavon is the only big named guy there. Beoheim, Martin from SoCar, and Smart are all there. Anyone doing anything out of line would get ratted out by everyone else. |

While I doubt there's anything going on, the fact that they are there while other coaches can't even watch guys play seems a bit hypocritical. |

These coaches volunteer to be a part of the USA basketball program. They take time away from their own programs and families to help build a foundation for USA international basketball. I seriously doubt they do all that on the off chance they get an unnamed recruit alone in a hallway. If Martin was an assistant on this team nobody on here would blink an eye about it. |

You don't think it's a bit wrong that while other coaches can't even watch recruits in person, these coaches are getting to practice them, run them through specific drills, work with them, and then take them out to movies and what not? It's naive to think that there's ZERO chance that there's no relationships established, scouting advantages gained, and even tiny advantages on a recruiting front by being with these kids night and day. |

But since you did mention, Nichols got to form a relationship and be coached by BD at practice and probably have contact after practice on a personal level. That's bull****. Unless every other coach recruiting him can do the same. |

When the NCAA prides itself of an these rules and regulation to create equal opportunities for coaches, and then let this go on, that's nothing short of hypocritical. |

Whoever the coach is may get a small advantage in building a relationship with a recruit or two. But they're giving up their time, which they could be using to actually recruit, to try to better USA basketball. It's a non-issue because no coach in their right mind would take the position in hopes that it would benefit them from a recruiting standpoint. The only reason it's an issue here is because that one player happens to be UT's top target. |
