Good call. I haven't watched him much in the NBA, I generally will only watch if it's the Grizz or the Suns. I thought he had a lower assist number, though.
That's why, atleast IMO, he's the best pg by far in the NBA.
Hell give you true PG assist numbers, a:to, and steals but will also give you elite scorer numbers as well.
He's an incredible player, and to be honest I'm not really a fan of his I just respect his game. Incredible talent.
I disagree. The point of a Point Guard is that he is the facilitator of the offense. When you have someone running the Point who, instead of making his teammates better, forces his teammates to watch as he tries to do everything himself, then I don't consider him a true point guard.
I don't consider Derrick Rose a true PG. He's great at was he does, but I would rather have him be able to dominate when he can while having a John Stockton actually organizing the offense.
Then we will disagree. I think a PG does what it takes to win, sometimes that means shooting instead of passing.

Everyone "does what it takes to win".
In my opinion, the role of a point guard is to get the ball in the hands of the correct person on every play.
Does that mean that he should never shoot? Of course not.
It does, however, mean that you shouldn't dribble the clock down to 8, then take 3 steps and put up a shot every time down the court.
D Rose is a incredibly underrated passer. His passing ability is overlooked simply bc of his incredible scoring ability.

Lol did you see him do this to Dragic last year when the Bulls played the Suns?

I'm not saying that either. I am saying there is no such thing as a "true PG". That's it. That's the end of my argument. nothing more, nothing less. is there a "true SG". OR perhaps a "true PF"? No there isn't. PG is just a PG. Tony White was one of the greatest players to go through the University of Tennessee. He happened to play PG. He never had more than 2.5apg in 4 years at UT, but he won two conference scoring titles, scored 51 points in a game, and won SEC player of the year once. Dude could flat out play. Great PG, but by some people definition not a "true" PG.

Would you prefer the offense run through him and he determines every time whether anyone else on the team contributes, or would you rather someone lead the team as a floor general and allow the plays and other players to open shots for your best shooter?

I would prefer that the guy that gives me the best opportunity to win is on the floor.
Boston puts Rondo on the floor and he distributes. Chicago puts Rose on the floor and he scores. Just for a second lets pretend you have to start an NBA franchise tomorrow and you can have one or the other. I can tell you that almost every GM in the NBA will take Rose. But you're telling me you take Rondo? That's fine if that's your opinion, just don't give me grief for agreeing with the people that make millions to make these decisions for a living.

And to answer your question, I would be just fine with anything Tony White decided to do with the ball.

I would rather have Rose at the 2. Sorry.
And because of shooting ability, I'd take Chris Paul over Rondo. They can both distribute, but I'd take the ability to shoot over the ability to rebound.

Sorry, you broke the rules, you can have either Rondo or Rose to be your PG. Not SG or Chris Paul or any other PG in the league. Just Rose or Rondo. Who do you take? The true PG or the one that is the league MVP?
Edit: you know what, fine. you want Rose or Paul? I still think most people take Rose to be their PG.

For this past year I'd take Paul, Rondo, or Nash over Rose. His slashing for such a small frame gets him hurt all the time.
