What a way to cash in on your new-found notoriety from being in the sweet 16! | Using Tenn and Baylor in a lie to gain attention doesn't add up. Looking to cash in for some attention like you speak of would have included a higher profile school than Tenn IMO. Posted via VolNation Mobile |

Looks as if this kid and his parents were doing a little cashing in on his new-found notoriety in the NCAA tournament. What a way to get yourself noticed! | +1 |

Name dropping a former basketball coach disgracing himself as a liar totally makes you legit and cashes in on your new-found "fame".

The writer took two or three quotes out of about fifty that would make his story get as many hits as possible....the kid not realizing the uproar that would happen recanted his story. |

Or Bruce and DJ had a talk and there was confusion and settled it. Or the parents just got excited, let something slip, and all there was to it was indirect contact.
I actually believe both sides. That Tennessee did inquire about DJ, but Bruce didn't contact him directly and DJ didn't want to transfer anyway.

Not all reporters do that and not all interviews are 50 questions that only include 3 in the published version. |

I actually believe both sides. That Tennessee did inquire about DJ, but Bruce didn't contact him directly and DJ didn't want to transfer anyway. | Basically what I believe happened. Nobody will ever know though, so all this arguing and people getting mad for others giving their opinions on what they think happened is dumb.
I understand stories sometimes come out that are false, but if this came out on Cal how many posters here would be defending him like this? Pearl has created that image and has nobody to blame but himself for it. So whether it's fair or not when things like this come out perception is that there's a possibility it has some truth to it. As I said, how many on this board would have been rushing to Caliparis defense if this was Cal we were talking about?

2nd the writer stated he started out to do a story on coopers play and surprising run when he changed it to a recruiting piece.
You are right though the only true facts are that Bruce pearl said he didn't do it and the kid said it didn't happen....the rest are just opinions based on each persons preference of what happened. |

You are right all of it is assumption and opinion. The only facts are Bruce said he didn't do it and the kid said he didnt do it. My assumptions will always be on the side of who I support. I'm a Tennessee vol and I support Bruce pearl.....I hate Kentucky and calipari.
In my opinion Bruce pearl was and still is a Tennessee vol.....he cost himself a job but still supports charities in Knoxville and when asked has been supportive of CCM....he has not been putting himself out there causing distractions for this team either. |
