At 6'5"/6'6" he has great size, for the 2/3 position but also has great handles. Can score in a variety of ways, can score outside, drive to the rim and finish or post up smaller guys. Truly an elite scorer who IMO wil really flourish and probably be in the league within 2 years of college.
One knock could be he needs to add some muscle and weight to that frame, a la Jordan McRae.

I wish he wouldve stayed for his senior year, but the only problem I had with him was he was inconsistent. I think if we get Hubbs I believe we can easily go back to the sweet 16, elite 8 again |

I'm hoping we can add a 2nd guard along with hubbs, maybe crawford(thornwell would be nice!!!). My hope is we turn the roster over a bit...say bring in Newkirk, hubbs, Crawford, Nichols and Agau and returning Stokes. Part with Landry, and then part with a few guys like Reese maybe, try to add talent to our depth.
Golden/Newkirk
Hubbs/ Crawford
McRae/Edwards
Stokes/Nichols
Agau/Yemi
OH MY!!! Realistically though, it starts with hubbs and Nichols, land those 2 and anything else just becomes icing on top of icing on the cake.

He's the kind to build a program around and recruit around. If we could get him and along with 2 possible stars in Agau and Hubbs, it could be very special. |

Nichols is atleast a 3 year guy IMO, and as you said wont out up crazy numbers most likely. Hell probably be very solid and get you 12/8 a game and do the dirty work. As you said though, you can rely on him, know what you're gonna get, and can recruit around him. Those are the types of players that you need to have.
Agau has the potential to be very good, but he may only be in school a year or two if he continues to progress. He has that potential that can very well get him drafted, so he may not be a star in college either, but he'll be very good.
As I said above, hubbs will be a 2 year guy IMO, anymore than that and I'd be surprised. If he works hard when getting to school and hits the weights hard and nutritional right, he'll be jut fine. |

I think he could be like Haslem or Battier of the Heat (not saying he will be at their level or anything lol) just meaning doing the dirty work like you stated. Taking charges when needed, diving for the lose balls. Every team needs that hard nosed 12/8 type player.
Agau is a smaller version of Serge Ibaka, to me. Just with his athletic ability right now.
I honestly wouldn't be too surprised if Hubbs bolted just after one year. I think it's according how he progresses in college |

| Appears Nichols is a last minute addition to the Nike Global Challenge team. Good for him.
BlueDevilNation Mark Watson
Congrats to #Duke prospect Austin Nichols for being invited to the Nike Global Challenge. We will have an interview with him coming.

| | Senior Member | Looks like Nichols will sign in the spring. Not sure if that's good or bad.
Andrew Slater @DreDre18
Austin Nichols @a_nichols33 said that he'll likely take visits in August, cut down on his list in a month +, and decide after the HS season. |

Not sure it means a whole lot either way, I'd have preferred it in the fall though so that it isn't a waiting game. I was really hoping he and hubbs both signed in fall, so if it is us we can target 1 or 2 more and know what we have.
Waiting until spring is going to be rough. |

Waiting until spring is going to be rough. | Well, to me this sounds like a good sign for UT. If I was a top recruit and had interests in coming to UT, I would wait and see what improvements CCM has made with the team and how well they do this season. I would be shocked if any top recruit signs with us in the fall. These kids want someone that can make them better and take them to the next level. CCM has to at least take a team to the NCAA tourney. |

| sorry some of this posted...didn't see this link anywhere. Power Forward Austin Nichols: Many Memphis Ties | DukeReport.com - Duke Basketball and Football Unfiltered
For those that don't want to read it....soemthing interesting
Having already taken an unofficial visit to Tennessee, Nichols says he hopes to visit Missouri, Florida, Virginia, Duke and North Carolina but has no timetable for those trips. He names Duke, Tennessee, Memphis, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina and Missouri as the programs coming after him the hardest and says he has built the best relationships with the coaching staffs at Florida, Tennessee, Missouri and Virginia.
However, the most important thing Nichols told Duke Report was the fact that he plans on cutting his list down to six programs "within weeks." He even named some schools likely to make that list: "Missouri, Virginia, Florida and probably Tennessee."
sooo...with that it sounds about right that Duke and UNC aren't as big of a factor as we thought. To get this kid IMO, we gotta beat Florida out.

| Everyone at the time of the duke offer wrote us off and said it was just a matter of time until he committed and that he was a duke lock. I said at that time, SLOW DOWN, that's not the case at all.
Many started going on that duke is his dream school it over blah blah blah. Something funny in tat article, he admits he actually grew up a Memphis fan, and so duke wasn't a dream school as many said. As I said at the time, he meant it that it was a dream offer, to realize you've reached that point that you're being offered by coach K.
With that said, could he end up at duke? Absolutely he could. All my point is is that clearly duke wasn't a dream to him, and wasn't a lock as many suggested and thought. Tennessee is clearly in the thick of Nichols recruitment, we will be there till the end and have as good a chance if not better than anyone else involved. |
