| I love how everyone on this site preaches patience with Dooley (who has taken several commitments from players with lackluster offer lists) but is ready to run Martin out of town over taking ONE guy like that. |

| Martin won't win many recruiting battles with BCS schools, and certainly not with elite programs, because he doesn't have an edge. No resume of getting to the NCAA tournament or putting guys in the NBA. No geography advantages. Lot of bad PR on Tennessee basketball in the last year. It's not a "hot" school. Martin probably knows this, so he's going to try to build it like he did at Missouri State. Get guys who will buy in to him, develop them, and hope to get into the NCAA Tournament discussion in Year 3 or 4 with an older, mature team. No quick fixes. You have to be patient to win that way, and maybe it won't work, but that's how he has to do it. |

Let's face it. Unfortunately UT doesn't have a rich tradition of success in basketball. Kids aren't lining up to play for us.
Pearl had some success recruiting, but Bruce was also cheating, even if just a little. Would the recruits still have come here if he hadn't cheated? Who knows?
We didn't exactly land a big name coach. So if Martin is going to be successful here, he will have to first out coach his competition, before he can out recruit them IMO. It's that simple.
I'm not writing him off just yet. Let's give him some time to prove what he can do. Just like Serrano and Dooley, he will either be the next Pat Summit, or he will be gone. |

| 3 miserable years of low scoring "defensive" bball until Bruce comes back with a fun system players want to play for. Play ball faster and score more and players will come.
Three years of waiting. |

| Does CCM really KNOW??? I'm trying to be cool and respectful about CCM's recruiting ability. I am hoping that he understands that TENNESSEE basketball NOW has a bigger fan base and has a higher bar than normal. I feel like he doesn't REALLY know that TENNESSEE is a MAJOR program.
Unless CCM has an AMAZING EYE for talent he doesn't need to OFFER players UNTIL his COMPETITORS start at least talking about him and inviting him to official visits. You can make the case that NO PLAYERS know how he will do on the court...Well, what happens if he DOES VERY WELL? My guess is that these kids who have already commited will not play very much...and HOW will these kids handle that situation.
BASICALLY CCM NEEDS to RECRUIT the BEST of THE BEST and only OFFER the best until it's a last RESORT.
Good Luck! |

| Alaska- That could be the most retarded thing i've ever seen anybody post. Those "fast games" sure brought us multiple championships in while Bruce was here, didn't it. Posted via VolNation Mobile |

| Nice support. I'd like someone on here who is running their mouth to tell me what you see in the kids game that makes it a bad pickup. Somebody give something of substance. Most of you have no idea how a hs basketball player gains stars or recognition anyway.
BTW, Murray state would have whipped @ 8-9 teams in sec play in the last several years if they played in the league. Posted via VolNation Mobile |
