| I remember... I remember going to the old, half empty Thompson-Boling arena as a 12 year old to watch us get obliterated by Kentucky in 1996. I remember how funny it looked with all those blue people sitting in most of the orange seats and the other 25% being empty.
Being a fan of the basketball program back then meant being happy with 15 wins.
Now here we sit with a real shot. It's hard for me to grasp it, but it's real. We finally have the horses.
I know it's December.
...but it's our December - and it's our time now.
What do YOU remember? |

| I usually make it down to Knoxville for the UK/UT game every year. I remember all through the 90's watching season ticket holders at TBA read newspapers during the game, and leave early. All except for the 93 game, when the officiating travesty occured. The UT hoops atmosphere has certainly changed, and personally I'm glad to see it. I like UT hoops, and its also nice to have an actual rivalry within the conference for a change. |

| I remember the showman, Ray Mears, with his unique style of basketball and entertainment, impossible for anyone but a UT fan to enjoy. I remember the arrival of Ernie and Bernie. I remember Stu Aberdeen, a fiesty little assistant coach, and a 7 footer named Tom Boerwinkle. I remember watching Pistol Pete play. I remember Don Devoe, one heck of a coach, and running him off because he could not "get us to the next level." Then I remember terrible basketball then being played, so bad that it became almost impossible to watch, even when we were winning under Jerry Green. I remember the excitement that Bruce Pearl brought to Vol basketball beginning the first year with the press and gunning of Smith and Lofton. I remember the elite 8, with a legitimate chance to make the Final Four. I remember watching UT beat Villanova, then Pitt thinking is this really UT and when do I (or them) wake up. I hope to remember this season a special one climbing to new heights with Basketball. |

| I remember when they opened TBA my sophmore year at UT in 1987. I also remember Greg Bell draining 3 pointers and then dominating quarters at Ivy's on the strip just a few hours later. Once that was done it was time to hit the Lap and close down the bar....ahhh the good old days.. |

If I'm not mistaken, the thread was actually posted somewhere here on this forum. |

| I remember going to a double header my freshman year against south carolina... w/ isaiah victor hitting a 2 or 3 at the buzzer to beat south carolina... The thing i remember the most was that the mens game was BEFORE the womens game and the "old" people in front of me said... "now its time for the REAL UT team to play", meaning women.. I couldn't believe it.. but.. the arena was full that day for the women.. Needless to say I love me some Bruce.. |
