MSU Roster Stats Message Board

Tennessee: Gameday Central

Radio: WNML

The Bears are coming off an 80-71 against Arkansas State in the first game of the NIT Tip-Off in Knoxville. Leading scorer was Kyle Weems with 18 and leading rebounder was Will Creekmore with 10. Weems seems to be their go to guy, he was the leading scorer (16) in their first win of the year against Oral Roberts (78-61).

Melvin Goins' status is still unknown. UT will have to take care for the ball better after 27 turnovers last night. Hopefully Scott Hopson will keep up with the mid range game. Team also needs to improve on three point shooting.

GET THE BALL TO TOBIAS PLEASE

Hopson and Tobias are the team, they have to keep it up. Other than them, this team has no one, maybe Tatum, that can score by creating a shot

Hopson puts his head down and cries too much. Plus, when the game is on the line Hopson tries to hit a big shot, but takes a stupid shot. Like last night, instead of using his athleticism and driving in the lane, he shot a long, contested 3 instead.

He probably didn't feel confident enough to drive down the lane after some ugly turnovers due to his ballhandling/passing. Hopson was very solid last night offensively. He worked for his shot and his the mid-range jumper fairly well. He hit a shot when Belmont was going on their run. He still floated a bit and his defense was pretty average. Scotty still just doesn't have the handles to drive the lane and get to the basket whenever he wants, let alone at the end of a tight game.

Besides, Harris should've had the ball. The sooner he steps up and takes the leadership role, the better.

That was my point, I'd rather Harris or Tatum have the ball late over Hopson.

It's going to be interesting to see how they bounce back. I also hope the refs take notice of last nights game and do not follow up with a repeat performance. That was like a 3 hour game lol. I really beleive it depends on Goins. Golden can not play point right now.

It's not the refs it's the NCAA wanting the refs to emphasize calling everything. Hopefully they back off.

You know who I really liked last night...Cam Tatum!!! Hit a couple big shots and knocked down both free throws in the end.

Also, keep in mind that Bruce said Cam Tatum was the most improved player this offseason. That injury held him up a little, but I expect big things from this kid!
