He pitches too.

He throws heat as a pitcher but is a better SS. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a SS and a Closer if he ever makes it to UT.

The first mock draft I saw had him as a first rounder and he was shooting up draft boards.

Have you ever heard of Todd Helton?

Yes way, out of the top 10-15 baseball prospects he's the most likely to go to college.

They were not tossing around money so deep in the draft back in the early ninties. If Helton was drafted in the second round, as I believe he was by the Padres out of HS, he would get about a million dollars signing bonus for draft position only, then some more if the big league team wanted to "buy" him out of playing the highly dangerous position of football quarterback with more cash.

That's not what I said. You're missing the "and play baseball" part. Sonny Gray is much more likely to play baseball at Vandy than Kelly is at UT. Generally, the elite guys going to great academic schools are more likely to go to college, mainly b/c these schools are very expensive and they offer to pay for most or all of the education.

He will probably never play a down for the football team, but he would be an instant star on the baseball team. But the reason why people won't pick him is because they're unsure if he will fulfill his commitment here, and you don't waste a draft pick in the early rounds if you're not sure they will play or not. The easiest way to get him here would to hire Scott Boras as his agent.

WTF? The only reason a MLB would pass on Kelly, other than wanting someone else, would be him playing college football. Yet you say he's not good enough to ever play QB at UT. So what exactly is the leverage here?

You can play college football and pro baseball in the summers, you know. Granted that's not ideal for either party (college team or MLB org), if a player is good enough both sides will allow it.

Brandon Lilly: Top prep*prospects for MLB draft - More Sports - SI.com

I found this. Kelly is a higher rated prospect.

Football is a plus for him here, his main sport would be baseball.

Wouldn't that be against NCAA rules, since he would be in college and getting paid.

I thought Doug Johnson played during the summers when he was at Florida.
