SEC Scores Fri., March 16

The real season is here. It's a marathon, not a sprint. The goal is to win as many series as you can and avoid sweeps. Do that and you'll go to B'ham.

Home team is Bold

Georgia 4 Auburn 3 (AUB walks in winning run; 4 walks in bottom of the 9th)

Alabama 9 UT 7

Arkansas 10 Kentucky 2 (first UK loss of the year)

Miss State 12 Florida 9 (9 run 7th does in UF)

South Carolina 5 LSU 0

Vandy 3 Ole Miss 2 (10 inn)

The SEC Tournament, talk about a complete waste. It's always a home game for Alabama and it really accomplishes very little. I wish they'd do away with it and give the NCAA Tournament teams a week to rest their pitching and be at full speed for the Regionals.

Agreed. But you have to qualify (with few historical exceptions) to have a opportunity for the big dance.

It's important in that regard.

You are right about that. It's rare that a team makes it in without making the conference tournament. Didn't Florida get in one year when they didn't make the conference tournament, yet a team that did got snubbed? Hmmmmm.

Yep. 2004.

May have happened one other time with Auburn; other than that, you gotta make B'ham.
