| Vols Sweep DH over IPFW Great day to be a VOL. With the huge basketball victory at Fayettenam, the icing on the cake was a DH sweep of IPFW. Vols take game one 11-1, and then a 7 inning nightcap 9-1. Vols move over .500 for the first time this year at 6-5.
Game 1 -
James Adkins was masterful. 8 IP - no runs, 4H, 1BB, 12K. Lowers his ERA to 1.50 and gets his first win to go 1-2 on the year. Zane Stone worked the ninth and gave up a run on 1 hit, but recorded 2K.
The Vols had 16 hits on the day, led by the now-right-handed batting Tony D, who went 4 for 6 with 2 singles, a double and his first HR of the year. He also collected 3 RBI, as did Danny Lima, who went 2 for 5 with a single and a triple. Shawn Griffin also chipped in 3 hits (2B, 2 singles) as did Andy Simunic, who drove in 2 with his 3 singles.
We had 7 steals on the day - 3 by Simunic, who led all JC baseball with 52 last year at ChattState. Daniel Beasley got the start at DH.
Making their first Vol appearances were Brian Bibee, who entered the game as a defensive replacement in LF - and Michael Moore, who singled in his first AB.
Game 2 -
Lance McClain went 4 scoreless innings, giving up 2H, 5BB, while striking out 4. He improves to 2-2 and lowered his ERA to 8.79. Ryne Simpson gave up the lone run in a weird inning: he gave up a hit, but hit 3 batters, one forcing in the only IPFW run. Ryan Butner and Nick Hernandez worked scoreless innings; Butner struck out the side in his inning.
Vols had 12 hits in game 2. 3 guys had a pair of hits: Shawn Griffin (his first Vol HR, single) Simunic (2 singles) and Yan Gomes (2B, 1B). Daniel Beasley got the start in center, and added a hit - as he did in game one. Way to go, Beas!
Miscellaneous. This weekend the Vols improved their team batting average from .220 to .261. Team ERA lowered from 5.48 to 4.31. With no errors on the weekend, the Vol fielding percentage is now .961.
Next Up - Illinois-Chicago next weekend.

| ihateorange - we know you're a cock (or 'cock). Figuratively or literally, doesn't really matter.
We all know what kind of team Carolina is in baseball (you'll find nothing but respect for them here), but I'll remind you that we took the series from you in Columbia last year, and took 4 of 5 from you in '05.
From the level of your posts, I imagine you just learned something.
If you've got something intelligent to post, that's great. If not, take your smart assed comments and f#ck off.
