D1 Baseball....
Alabama is another intriguing job thats open right now, and the Crimson Tide appear to be a little more methodical in their approach. Theres not a lot of traction with this job thus far, though sources continue to mention the name of Tulane head coach David Pierce in association with the vacancy. Jewett also continues to come up in discussions with quality sources, while the Tide is expected to vet Goffs interest as well. Theres also talks the Crimson Tide might try to reel in a big fish like Oregon States Pat Casey, but we would have to see Alabama make that type of commitment before we actually believe in it. At this stage, the Tides search is still very fluid. Alabama athletic director Bill Battle is out of the country through the weekend, so dont expect anything to surface on the Alabama opening between at least now and next week. In a little update to the Tide section, keep an eye on NC State head coach Elliott Avent. The long-time Wolfpack skipper has guided the program to 15 regionals and four super regionals. However, were told the Tide and Avent have mutual interest. Stay tuned.
We expect another head coaching job at a program with a ton of potential to come open in the next couple of days. Stay tuned for the very latest, but the potential candidates for this vacancy would be excellent.
