At Grainger’s recent awards day ceremony, Cabbage accepted his accolades and returned to his seat as quickly as possible.

“I don’t really like recognition, honestly,” Cabbage said.

He’s gotten plenty of it though, considering scouts from all 30 Major League Baseball teams have seen him play at some point and prospect guru Keith Law recently ranked him among the top-100 prospects among those eligible for next month’s MLB Amateur Draft. UT assistant coach Aric Thomas said Cabbage boasted one of the top left-handed bats in the nation when the Volunteers signed him.

Great write up. We need him BADLY next year. I would love to tell MLB no so he can come help out the school he grew up rooting for
