| Has Serrano Conceded the State in Recruiting? With Will Crowe's committment to USCe last week and reports that the Vols werent even involved in his recruitment at all, is the staff conceding the top recruits within the state of Tennessee and looking for top talent in other places?
I believe this actually might be a good tactic if this indeed is happening. Then gradually work back into the state as the programs reputation is built back with the locals. |

| I wouldn't read too much into what happened in the recruitment of only 1 guy. |

| He did recruit Wil. Just got in on him later because he has only be the HC one season and was already recruiting other guys he knew better. He thought he had the pitching taken care of anyway until recent, unexpected developments with a couple recruits. |

He was asked that question on a radio interview not long ago and mentioned UT recruiting him, but SC just felt like a better fit. Like the poster above mentioned, I think this was a too little, too late scenario only because Serrano hasn't been around long.
Serrano's been pulling some pretty good instate talent while he's been here, and it will only get better when the W's start piling up. |

I will disagree that DS was hurt due to time. A full year passed before any decision was made. IMO getting hired before his junior year even started is plenty of time to recruit a local kid. |

| Say what you want but Wil said in an article in the Mountain Press this past week that he did hear from UT, but they got in late. He already had a solid relationship with USCe. Given the choice he could play for the team that has finished #1, #1, #2 over the past three seasons - or - take a chance on a Serrano/UT turnaround. No brainer. |

No brainer. | I found the article in the news sentinel and he was quoted saying that both schools had recruited him a little over a month. IMO there is no excuse for the Vols not to have been recruiting him for much longer than a month unless their plan is as I mentioned before to concede the state. Getting in to late had nothing to do with having a new coach according to his quotes. |

| OP, are you saying the current recruits from TN are not top talent? There are several, this does not look like conceding the state to me. |

The rest were not recruited by any big schools that I am aware of. I think they are taking a lot chances on fridge in state prospects and going out of state for their high scholarship impact elite players . |

| I know of one ELITE Tennessee recruit that watched Serrano this year and didn't like the way he treated some of his players. He has gone elsewhere. Serrano has also been caught failing to relay information from scouts to his players, something his predecessor was well known for. Considering that most players have aspirations of playing after college this does nothing to instill confidence in Serrano and would be something most players with a future should avoid. I really thought we had gotten past that kind of stuff. Maybe not. |
