Rod Delmonico to Interview with WVU

Would be a nice get for WVU. A little tougher to recruit in the north, but with WVU academics, he could get anyone in. I'd like to see this happen to strengthen northern baseball.

i hope he gets the job. i think he could help them out. would be going into the big 12, so that would help getting players attention.

Took him seven years to get an interview at a major program. Telling, IMO.

I have very surprised he hasnt been able to get some of the jobs he has been mentioned for. Jobs no where close to as good as west Virginia he hasn't sniffed. With his resume why do you think he seems to have been black balled?

I was told by an admin at another school he inquired about a couple of years ago that the academic shambles he left UT in were a concern, as was his noted lack of willingness to actively fundraise for his program.

The academic issue I think he could get past somewhere because he now knows going in the type of academic culture he would have to have to get by with the APR and degree progression requirements.

But failing to show any interest in actively fundraising for his program at Tennessee still haunts him.

Luckily for Delmonico, WVU has about the same interest in academics as him.

He will have to focus on grades if he wants to succeed at WVU.

Uh, yes. With the newer NCAA rules all baseball coaches have to stay on top of grades.

I see Pat Murphy is also a candidate. WVU is looking for a name experience coach. At least Rod does not have NCAA baggage even though it appear Pat was used as a scapegoat.
