Then you have probably never been in a situation where you felt like that was the only escape. I know I have never been, and I hope not to ever be. However, if I am, I know that I have a loving God, loving family, and loving friends to reach out to me. Not everyone has this, or realizes they have this. Just my opinion.

Then study mental health a little more and realize some people don't have control of their minds.

Most people who commit suicide are severely depressed, and if you've never experienced it, I wouldn't be so quick to judge.

Surely you can agree that those left behind are really hurting and need our prayers. I don't want to go into details but some of those left need to be kept in our prayers for a lifetime.

I completely understand your opinion when it comes to adults but I don't agree with your opinion when it comes to kids. Not gonna call you names or stupid or whatever. I don't judge people like that. That's your opinion and I respect it.

Mental illness is a disease, just like cancer. Do you feel no compassion for cancer? Would you feel the same if it was your child or someone close to you? Or are you just a cold SOB?

No worries. I do judge people like that and I will gladly call him/her a self-righteous piece of crap.

Mental illness affects adults, too.

To feel no sympathy, thinking suicide is a selfish act, is just ignorant.

Don't feel sympathy for the act of suicide. Feel sympathy that the mental illness was so severe, that whatever he was dealing with on a daily basis made him feel as if he had no other option.

I am sorry, but mental illness does not mean suicide is GOING to happen. It is a bit of a stretch to compare the situation to the cancer patient that had absolutely no choice in the outcome of their life. That being said I feel greatly for the kid, and saddened that he felt so alone. My prayers are going out to family ad friends.

Feel really bad for family. No need to pray because if there was a god this kind of stuff wouldn't happen.

Lost my best friend in high school to suicide. I know what his friends and family are going through and there is no word that can describe the immense pain and suffering. Prayers sent.

suicide. man that's tough. i've had numerous friends take their own life growing up. although I completely sympathize for the family and anyone touched by this, it's such a hard thing for me to understand. i've never suffered from what most would call "deep depression" or had any other mental issues, but I cannot fathom how death is a "easy way out." I'm sorry, there are just too many other options, and its usually never as bad as it seems. there must have been some serious underlying problems. all i can do is pray that the family find peace.

Who said I didn't feel sympathy? Dude get you feelings off of your shoulder. Don't start a fight with me on this subject. This ain't about me or you. A guy killed hisself. I'm going to visit his family tonight. No sense in arguing about a suicide. But who knows. I'm ignorant right?
