Just kidding. I am pretty hopeful for the season. I like Serrano and I like the complexion of the team. Maybe finish 7/8 and lots of improvement over last year.

Baseball will be a tougher rebuilding job than Basketball, more competition within the conference, volatile recruiting environment, Raleigh's giant dump on the program, etc...
With that said, Serrano will get the job done.

Agree. A couple impact players can turn a basketball team around immediately, but baseball is different.
Serrano has to recruit and develop almost an entire pitching staff. His likely Friday starter had only three non-conference starts last year and an ERA over 6. And presumably that's the best arm Serrano has to work with! Compare that to SC with All American starters on Friday and Saturday or Vandy, which has the luxury of bringing a first round draft pick along slowly.
This is going to take a few years. We'll see improvement in a lot of areas right away, but conference wins could remain scarce.
Rather be picked last and surprise everyone, vs. start the season with a target on our backs.
I completely agree.
They are flying under the radar. A team motivated to prove people wrong, and maybe teams overlooking them.
