BaseVols off to a great start - 12 runs on 14 hits. Chris Kemp hits a 3 run HR - one of many offensive highlights. Baserunners galore - led by Julio Borbon.

James Adkins gives up 1 run in 4 innings; Craig Cobb pitches 3 shutout innings, Danny Wiltz and Ryne Simpson with a shutout inning apiece.

Vols go at 'em again in Boca Raton tomorrow night at 7.

Go BaseVOLS!!

Wasn't Florida Atlantic ranked around 13th or so? A road sweep would sure be a great way to open the season.

In Collegiate Baseball Magazine they were ranked 18th, one spot higher than us.

A sweep would also help quell some of the doubts that we were a one shot wonder last year.

Couple of notes:

FAU is ranked ahead of us in 1 of the 4 "major" CBB polls. We are ranked in all 4 (ranging from 9th - 20th), while FAU is ranked in only one.

Hochevar still hasn't signed with the Dodgers, but is their "property", so to speak, until the June 2006 draft. If Luke hasn't signed by then, he would re-enter the draft.

9 BaseVols played in their first game last night. Line-up is probably in flux (at a couple of spots) for the first couple of weeks.

Tonight's game can be followed using Gametracker on utsports.com. Gametime is 7PM.

Isn't a true freshman starting for the Vols tonight? Hopefully, the Blue Wave will smack into that Big Orange bulkhead and go flat again today and tomorrow.

Yep. Freshman Josh Lindblom makes his debut tonight, while JC transfer Deunte Heath will go tomorrow.

Hope we can keep the bats going. The good January weather (extra outdoor BP) may pay off in this early season.

Go BaseVols!!

I wondered where she's been. She hasn't been around in a LONG time. Hopefully baseball will bring her back around.
