Smile Fomer College Baseball player: New Book on my experience playing Division I ball

Hello, my name is Ken Jacobi. I wanted to introduce myself tonight and let everyone know in this community about a new book I just wrote about my experience playing college baseball. The book is titled "Going with the Pitch: Adjusting to Baseball, School, and Life as a Division I College Athlete.

I graduated from Bingahmton University of the America East Conference in 2009 and since then I have been working on this memoir to give fans and players alike a chance to see and understand what it is like to be a "normal kid" getting the opportunity to play baseball at school.

The book has had a good amount of noise in some areas of the country, and a lot of people suggested that I reach out to forums across the country to share my story so I am doing just that.

I was never fortunate enough to play for a team like Tennessee, but I really think true college baseball fans (players, parents, and coaches as well) will get a lot out of the book. From 8 hour bus rides, to late night study sessions, to game winning hits this story shows how I learned to become a "success" at the Division I level.

If you are interested in learning more about the book please visit Going with the Pitch: Adjusting to College Athletics | Order your copy now at Amazon.com or email me at KJacobi1hw@gmail.com

Best of luck to the Vols come playoff time!!!!

Best of luck to you as well, but the Vols need no luck to watch the playoffs again this year.

I'm sure your team played in a conference where every team got to participate in the tournament like it should be. However we are terrible this year and the season can't end soon enough. I played baseball at a smaller school as well so I am definitely interested in your book. Thanks for coming here to let us know about it.

No kidding. He copied and pasted this on several boards and just changes school name and mascot to plug his book. No thank you

We don't need no stinkin advertisements, especially for some half-assed book by a half-assed author.

I dunno... reading about his team or having to watch ours...more of a dilemma than it should be.

Hello everyone,

I am sorry to see the Vols are not doing well this year. The beauty of college baseball though is that one good recruiting class can change everything.

Regarding some of the reactions to my post, I do apologize if it felt like I was intruding into your message board. When I set out two years ago to write about my experience playing college baseball, (and the struggles that I went through while playing in the "snow belt") I had just graduated from college and wanted to provide future players, current players, and real fans of the game an insider's view into the world of student-athletes. I needed closure on m career and that is where this book stemmed from.

At the beginning I had no idea what the end result would be. The book is 100% independent and published through a small company. With the final draft now in hand, I thought that there was no better way to let people know about it then going right to the source, the biggest college baseball fans out there. That is why I came to this forum. If anyone out there would be interested in a book about college baseball, I thought it would be at a place like this.

To respond to one last post in this forum, this was actually the first school I made a post to. I have been making posts to some other blogs but I have learned very early on that with a small marketing budget and no backing by the "big boys", taking a chance and going to forums like this is the only way people could find out about it. If I didn't believe in what it said or if I didn't think it was worth the time to read I wouldn't be doing what I am doing.

For those who took the time to read this, thank you. I would love to continue the discussion. Again, I do apoligize if this seems as just another advertisment as I do not want to disrespect the forum.

Thank you,

Ken

Ken, welcome to Volnation. Just so you understand, our baseball team is 5-22 in conference play. The coach will be fired on Sunday after the final homestand, well, probably. Nobody that cares about UT baseball is real happy, so I apologize for our lack of southern hospitality. Good luck with your book.
