Improvement is obvious

Whether or not this team makes an impact in the SEC race remains to be seen, but there is no question they are getting better.
The emphasis on base running is paying off!! The announcers on TV talked about it all day.
We'll take every win we can!! Go Vols, win the series tomorrow.

The unfortunate problem is that this program is so far behind others that its going to take drastic amounts of improvement to be competitive on an even mid tier conference team basis.

But yes, they look much improved over the last 2 seasons.

Was hard to watch that... but the pitching depth..... well I dont need to say anything else about that... you know at the risk of pissing off one of the parents ( but I told you so).. like I told you SEC play was going to determine the "GENIUS" of rollie pollie. He does not know how to bring teams together. He has lots of talent, and had lots of talent ( to work with....he has no talent himself). Looking at the schedule he will be lucky if he ends up with 6-8 SEC wins.if he is lucky!!! I wonder if they are positioning Ash to take over.. get rid of all things Western Carolina!!

at best, our pitching depth is equal to 2010. Look at the number of arms (good, bad or mediocre) that are no longer on our roster and tell me it's better.

Sure, in the leadup to the Auburn series, Todd or his Yes Men coaching staff will point to how the team ERA is down as proof of their skills, and the local talking head will fail to bring up the fungo bats now being used but this staff is not better.

Now that we got a basketball coach hired and attendance is beginning to tank, I don't think Hamilton or Cheek can afford to ignore this hack staff anymore. I would love to see them announce before the Auburn series that Todd's contract is ending without renewal.

Our baseball coaching search should be better than basketball with our new facilities and now diminished expectations. If Hamilton is in charge I fear he will simply hire the next Clemson/Leggett/ACC hack in line.

You are correct frye.. but I dont think the pitching staff is equal to 2010.. all these CC players (pitchers) were supposed to come and add depth and kick a-- but to no avail. these poor guys look like deer in headlights on the mound, and its not their fault they receive no instruction and forget about true leadership... I feel bad for them. ( rollie pollie should not have chased off the ones he had he should have kept their experience and this year might have faired better). they did well against teams that were not that good. It was a mental boost...for a while... till they got to the SEC then reality set in... I agree with you fire them now... all things Western Carolina!!

The hardest part about BB is that the best go Pro out of High School....so recruiting is tough business. The good part is there is soooo much talent available .....

Vol Doc. I still think there is plenty of pitching depth. Gruver and Catapano should hold down the Friday and Saturday spots. Other very very effective pitchers so far this year have been Williams, Daniel, Blount, Ramsey, Dean(in relief), Godley, and Watson(in relief). The big question will be if Reed will be able to get his arm strength back. If he can, we will be fine on the mound. If he can't, then we will more than likely struggle on Sundays all year.
