The Bama loss to Ole Miss clinches fourth for us. Now we have to root for Bama to beat Auburn while we hopefully beat A&M and this team will be second in the SEC and almost certainly home for the Super Regionals.

They lost by one run last night to Ole Miss. Here's the run they would like to have back:

You can see Assistant Alyson Habetz (white jacket) watching her come home, miss the plate, and then try and beat through the crowd to tell her to tag home to no avail.

Whats so funny is the ump gave the ball back to the catcher so she could tag that big collard green eatn'bammer out! :birgits_giggle:

It almost looks like the umpire says something to the ole miss pitcher as he gives her the ball. Maybe not. I think the mississippi catcher was looking at the plate when the bama player came home. The bama assistant definitely noticed it and is desperate to get the hitter's attention. SWEET!

Did they ever say if the proper protocol for appealing the runner out was followed or not?

Murphy made the play a teaching moment. I was watching the game and I thought the umpire gave the ball to the catcher who pointed to HP went an tagged the runner as she was coming back to tag it. Yes the assistant was giving it her all to get to the runner but pile of humans was too much. Murphy said that all players whatever the sport should tag the plate in the middle with ONE foot and step off to the celebrating players. I have watched out girls do basically the same thing jumping with both feet to touch the plate, which is sufficient if you touch it I guess. Would rather do as he said myself. As I said when we played them and I got grilled for it they have some big ole girls but they can hit it a long ways.

I've got us going no higher than 7th and no lower than tenth...with possible opponents being Minnesota or Baylor

I don't think the announcers knew what the proper ruling was because it is such an unusual situation that you might see once a year. I've seen about 100 different opinions out there on various forums and social media from many claiming to be "experts" with many of them different.

I would like to see the NCAA or SEC put out a statement detailing the correct or incorrect rule application.

I agree. It seems like they should put something out there.

I hope Caylan gets off to a strong start tonight...When she starts strong she is hard to do much with most of the time.

Little surprised its Arnold but I think Ralph will have a short hook. Rest of lineup is no big mystery since we much not have a better all around catcher on the roster. Maybe Lockman will hit one a long way since that's seems to be her thought process. Need to jump out in the lead and Arnold needs to throw first pitch strikes and not walk any.

Wow, will Arnold even finish the inning?

Morrison relieving Arnold. Unreal.
